Help needed Since I do not own a yorkie yet I am always looking at the yorkie pups available in my area. I just got pictures of a tiny yorkie girl from here breeder. She is CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) registered and is 14 weeks old. She is now 1.5 pounds. Is that too tiny and what health concerns and such would such a small pup have? Her mom is 4 pounds, her dad 3.5 pounds. I was also looking at her pic and her fur on her legs is really short, most pics I see of yorkie pups have longer fuzzy fur on their legs as well as their bodies. What do you all think? She also is quite expensive for our area at $2000. Here are pics of her and her parents. Any input would be appriciated.

If you line up a bunch of pictures of yorkies you will ALWAYS be able to pick out the tiny ones..they seem to have differet features, something about them isnt the same as the bigger ones This pup looks like Lady did when I got her exept Lady was 7 weks old and 8oz.You can tell this yorkie is going to be small because of her features but the short hair on the legs isnt normal..could she have had them shaved etc? Cant you go and see her beforehand? With these tiny yorkies its always best to see them in person first. In a picture you cant tell if this pup has an open fontanel (very common in tinies) neither can you tell how big she really is or if she is active or lethargic etc.Its always best to visit first because you dont want to spend $2000 on a pup and find that she is lethargic or has an open fontanel etc.In my opinion her face is cute, but I would want to visit her first and be able to see how she acts etc.I wish you luck because she is very cute! Dont worry too much about the problems tinies have because not all tinies have problems, infact they arent much different to the bigger yorkies

Thank you for your post, I thought the short fur on the legs was not normal and cannot tell from the pics if she has been shaved, I was wondering that too. lol She is cute but not the little furball that most yorkie pups are. Her parents are very nice looking so she most likely will be too. I can see the pup tomorrow in the city, I think as you said seeing her in person and getting her checked by a vet would be the best thing to do.

| I would ask for a lot more info on this baby, the hair on her legs dont seem normal to me unless they shaved it... also check her left ear, it might be the pic or im seeing things, but it looks damaged

Omg , I think you are right about the ear, I never noticed. I just don't feel good about this for some reason besides the obvious ones and think I will keep looking. I have two great breeders that have pups available at the end of June & in August. I think I need to just be patient my healthy pup will come. Thank you for your help, your great!! And and just want to say I was looking at your yorkies in your album and they are so beautiful.

ear Looks like the breeder may have nicked her ear when it was groomed..that nick will not fill in, but the hair will grow and most likely cover it up. I recall Gina's girl, Lady had very little leg hair..ask her what Lady's coat looks like now..best wishes

Yes,Ladys hair was VERY thin when she was little, but not short Of you go to her album (the link is in my signature) you will see what she looked like at 7 weeks old then what she looks like now at 17months old.I think its the first picture,my husband is holding her in his hands. Her hair was very very thin back then, she even went bald on her chest (you will see that picture too) but it was never short. In the picture that yorkie looks as if its legs have been shaved, the hair is incredibly short. The ear does seem to have a little nip in it too..She does have a sweet face though.

Hi Gina, I looked at the pics of Lady in the gallery in your link she does look similar to this pup except for the lack of hair on this puppy's legs. Mostly the cute pic of Lady standing in the basket. She sure turned out gorgeous, you must be a proud mom. Your links in your sig are not working but I was still able to find your galleries by going to *********.

| Tommy had shorter hair on his legs but now they are getting alot fuller. His hair was allittle thin too. But it is lookin great now he is 3.5 lbs at 6 1/2 months so it might be just in the smaller dog. I also had a big boy fluffy and lots and lots of hair he was 7 1/2 lbs at 10 months. So thats why I think it is in the smaller dog but I could be way off on that.. You can look at Tommy's pic's and see as he was when I brought him home till now.. Its under monyka415. GOOD LUCK!!

Just curious , who is the breeder ? All my three Yorkies had thin coats as pups , they all turn to have splendid silky long coat . I don't know if it is that for others .
