I'am a groomer and also work at a petsmart nothing like that as ever happened at my store and all petsmarts have a vet so why would they take it to one and do you know how hard it would be to cut a dogs tail off? Tails have bones in them you can not cut a dogs tail off by accident that story is not true

I havent found a groomer I trust w/my dog yet. I think this story is exaggerated....but if there are 2 stories in this post stating a injury & a lie to try to cover the injuries-so exaggerated or not that is not a good business practice. I might be a little upset if they said we nicked his little tail accidently & there is a little blood & brought me straight to him so I could comfort him & know he was ok. But to lie & know that he was hurt & scared-not good. I stop back in periodically to check on mine & when they are done I end up saying we will not be back here for some reason or another. I definately would never just leave my dog for hours w/o checking in.

The more I read about bad groomer experiences the more I love my groomer. I have been using her for years and my gentle giant thinks she is the best thing since dog biscuits! The Shih tzu gives her kisses (This dog is afraid of EVERONE) and wags her tail when she sees her. Adie has been to her about three times and is being brought in to the world of grooming very gently and gradually. I really appreciate that. I used Petsmart years ago but I didn't like that I couldn't see in back and they didn't let me see my dogs unless they were on the table. I can't say I had a bad experience with them though.

				   | I am a groomer and find it hard to believe the tail was cut off. It has to be extremely hard to cut a tail off and I would think a groomer would know if they were cutting through bone, it cant be easy to do. Maybe the tail was extrememly matted and the tail was nicked. Hope we can get a real answer on what really happened. Like someone else said Petsmart would not be real fond of untrue stories being told about them

This exact same thing happened to my Shih-tzu. They took a plug of skin under his front left leg (almost at the joint), and nobody bothered to call me. They took him right to Banfield and fixed him up with some sort of liquid bandage. TALK ABOUT BEING PISSED. It was sorta added as an after thought when I picked him up. So even though I think the entire tail may be a bit of an exaggeration......they may have cut a good chunk outta the poor thing.

Our Petsmart has a vet on site. I took Indy there every month to be groomed. Sometimes i stayed, sometimes I didn't. I never had any trouble and I have gotten to know most of the groomers there. They loved Indy and treated him very well. Tink went there for her first hair cut. My groomer did a great job with the wiggle worm.

As a groomer I know I have nipped a few ears in my time..but it is not easy to cut through an adults tail unless you are using hedge clippers. I had a grooming client whose Yorkie got a full half of her ear cut off at the groomers...never understood that one..do you know what it takes to cut through an ear..a little snip of the edge and I can feel it with the scissors., but to continue on through the entire ear something. I had a friend put a wrapper on the nd of her dogs tail to protect the hair for showing..well, she put the rubber band around the tip by accident and when she took of the wrapper the tip of the tail and hair fell off..she has so upset..the dog did not react before it happened. It grew back, but took months...
