I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | ![]() Usually they are neutered at around 6 months. If you are not planing on using him as a stud (for breeding) I would definitely have him neutered. Un-neutered males "mark"...which is not a pleasant thing ![]() ![]() ![]() P.S.- It is a good idea to have complete blood work done on your baby before putting them under for surgery, just to make sure that there are no underlying problems ![]()

| ![]() What I meant by a discount wasn't meant just anyone was going to do the surgery. I was meaning maybe coupons to help that would make the cost a little easier on the pocket. No way would I just let anyone do surgery on my baby. And I don't plan on using him for stud service. |

Some vets will neuter earlier than 6 months, but tradition is to do it around 6 months old. It's up to you. I'd talk more to your vet about his/her reasons for doing it early. Also, make sure that wherever you go to get his neuter done they use isofluorine or sevofluorine as an anesthesia. It's the same kind that is used on humans and your puppy will come out of surgery much quicker.

| ![]() The benefits of neutering far outweigh the benefits of not neutering. I got Hobbs neutered at 5 months old. He still squats to pee and he has never humped anything. I think the earlier, the better if you want to keep him squatting to pee and if you want to prevent humping. |
