Question about my new puppy hi all!! I'm very new to this site, to tell you the truth this is the first forum I've ever belonged to. I just bought a puppy about one month ago.. his name is Duncan and I'm soo happy with him. He's a little maniac at times, but I guess that's to be expected with any puppy. Anyway, when I got him he was about 8 weeks old (which looking back was rather young, but it was love at first sight )His hair was super short at that time, and I assumed it would grow as he got older. Sirprise, surprise it hasn't grown all that much, he's starting to look a little shaggy on the body and he's finally starting to grow a little hair on his face, but it's far from what one would expect for a typical yorkie. The vet expressed some concern, stating he may be a mix of a yorkie and a chihuahua, which upset me at first, only because i payed full yorkie price for the little guy. However, when I contacted the breeder she assured me that he is a pure bred, and that all yorkies are different (duh--i know that) and that some just have short hair, little anomalies. I really want to believe her, and at this point it almost doesn't matter because I'm attached to him, but I'd really like to know. I guess my question for you all is if anyone has heard of anything like this before, a yorkie with shorter hair. I'm soure it's possible, but I'd just like to know your thoughts on this. Thanks so much fo your time!

| My quess is that he is full blooded yorkie. Some of their coats take longer to grow than others. If you can post a picture do. Oh and I woouldnt worry aboout what the vet said. Vets rarely know the beed standard or what a yorkie should look like

Like others have said, some Yorkies take a little longer to grow the coat than others, but I really want to see a picture to see how short your talking.

Welcome to YT! Your baby looks like a real cutiepie. As far as being all yorkie, I can't answer that question. If you REALLY wanted to know, ask the breeder whether or not the parents were DNA tested and if they were, then have Duncan tested.

I'm no expert but from the pictures, he look like he can be mixed with a Chihuahua, don't quote me though. He is very cute and looks so sweet. BTW, welcome to YT. You'll enjoy all the things on here and will learn a lot, like I did

I also got my puppy at 8 weeks and he will be 12weeks on Friday 10-13, My Tyson does have some hair but at least your babys ears are up and he is very very very cute............I can understand how you fell, you would keep him at this point even if he was half monkey but it is the point that someone is trying to make money off of people who want a yorkie as a pet and be charged tht and then get something else, I mean if TY grew fins I would not care but I would sure say something to the breeder, did you happen to see the parents....? Give them a call and see if they would give you any ref to other people tht bought from the litter and see what they look like......Good luck, I am trying to get some pics of Ty up here and you have come to a great spot these people know a lot when it comes to these pups and I also like the name you picked out CHRISTINE

He is only 3 months old- give him time to grow a coat- I have a couple lines that look like frizzy rats till they are 8 to 12 months old and then its coat to the floor by the time they are 18 months. Come on just enjoy the baby- the rest will fall in place.
