| Yorkie/Pom Puppy I have the opportunity to adopt a yorkie/pom pup. The mom is CKC 6 lb POM & the dad is an AKC 5lb Yorkie. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with the pom breed. Do they shed? How badly do they shed? Are they high maintenance? Any other information on the breed would be helpful. The lady needs to rehome her because of her living situation. The pup is 7 weeks old & weighs 1lb.

| I had a pomeranian for about 2 years but gave it away to my sister because of the shedding. The shedding is not bad but they do shed a lot. I was constantly vacuuming my carpet, my sofa and my bed. Pomeranian's are not high maintenance, they are pretty much satisfied if you show them little attention. BTW, if you or someone that live with you have serious allergies, pomeranians are not a good breed to bring in the home. I learned my lesson. If training is not provided, a pomeranian will bark and bark and bark. Other than that, they are pretty cute dogs. I don't know if it's really true but that's just what I've experienced. Hope this helps |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Maya is my pomeranian and I love her but would never get another one. AFter having 4 yorkies I much preer their personalities. Maya does shed but nor horribly, she is a terrible barker and will bite me if I try and wipe her eyes or give her meds. She is from a petshop so her personality may reflect that. She also prefers to be a loner and sleeps under the bed most of the time. That being said she is very intelligent and cute as can be. I just would never get another one based on my experience even though I love her to pieces. I do know people who have them and do not have the problems I have. But they are known to be shedders and barkers if not nipped in the bud.

| I had a Pom prior to my Yorkies. She was a yapper, but the shedding wasn't terrible. She did require brushing, but she really didn't matt or tangle. I had small children at the time and she was good with them and would dance on her hind legs for treats. |

| I have a pom now, he is 10 months old. He has the best personality, loves everyone he meets. He is a great guard dog, barks if someone comes to the door. He does shed some, a couple of times a year when he gets his coat for the new season, which he just did a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty bad had to sweep daily but now he has stopped. Other than the couple of times a year he has not shed in between. I try to brush him weekly at least, but when he is shedding I do it daily. He likes to be with me where ever I am in the house, which is fine with me. All 3 of my dogs follow me all over the house. So I would say they do require someone around a lot just like any smaller dog they like human companionship. I highly recommend this breed. Oh and he LOVES LOVES LOVES my yorkie puppy Lily. They are best buds.

My furkids Donating Member | How could you say no to that little face! I have never owned a pom...thought about it but, I was told they can get nippy, they are yappy and they shed....ALOT! I don't have experience with this...this is just what I was told but, maybe where it is half yorkie he/she won't shed...or as much anyway...maybe will have the yorkie temperment and attitude!!! and you know how cute that is!
