Donating YT 14K Club Member | Fault in Yorkies? I have a question but first the story. I went to look at some yorkies yesterday. There is a groomer in town that also has a horrible reputation. I have NO idea how she is able to sell her yorkies. One of the babies that was shown to me, he had to be about 5-6 weeks old. He was blind in his left eye and his right eye had mucus around it. They showed me this poor guy to sell!!! I felt SO sorry for him! I've heard that she has even uses patron's male yorkies to breed with hers that are in heat without the owner knowing about it. She has her own yorkies, but I've heard that they are quite big. She had them in a shabby crate. It really is a SAD situation!!! A couple of the yorkies that I saw including the blind one had a white patch on their chest. Is this normal? |

| Wow! That is horrible!! I remember going to see some puppies a few years ago out here by me and they were just as you described. Crusty goopey eyes and full of poop. It was in the summer and there were little gnats flying around their head. It took EVERYTHING in me to not take them all home. But I knew I had to turn and walk away. The nerve of this person using males w/out the owners consent too.. As for the white patch. 90% of my puppies are born with some white on their chest, some have larger spots than others. I am still trying to find out what it represents. The white does eventually go away. So I do not consider it a fault. It appears that the coats are darker and silkier. But I have not had enough litters to be certain. It may just be a coinsidence... I would like to know other opinions about white on the chest... Hugs, Irene |

| another question... this is slightly off topic but..does the colouring on a puppy's coat generally stay the same as they mature or does the adult coat come in with a differnet pattern. I have been poring over the AKC and YTCA standard and it is very tough to fully interpret it...Is the face allowed to have dark colouring throughout the muzzle? Is there allowed to be any white on the body? Can there be any darkness to the face? (all of the pervious questions are for show/breeding dogs) *sorry for the number of questions but y'all are so informative!

| white patch If you type in white patch in the search bar of this site it will pull up about four threads that discusses this. I found it very interesting as some of my pups were born with little white patches on their chest and tippy toes but it's already starting to fade. It was news to me and the thread are really informative on the subject, I thought.

| color Puppy color and adult color can be very different. If you want a show pup, then you have to trust the breeer, see the line, see what they show and get a pup older then 12 weeks..you can get a hint at 12 weeks..but until 6 months it can only be called a potential, not show quality. A bit too light, too dark, too gold, too tan, does not count a Yorkie out..espically since correct color is in the eye of the breeder and then we have the judge..some don't know black from blue, gold from tan.. Get a good, sound structured puppy who wants to show, good ear and bite, nice texture and color is something you can give on a bit.. |

| Irene: Would it be possible to report the puppies' conditions to Peta or someone? What about the Puppymill busters? Thanks for your insight. |
