| ripped off? When I got Tinka, I thought I had found a good breeder. I spent a lot of time there talking to her and seeing the puppies. There was only one female ready to go and I fell in love with her, so I bought her. The breeder told me I could bring her back and she would give her her booster vaccinations and she clipped her nails, etc... Well, Tinka is now 9 months old and her ears don't stand up (even with a long time of taping them) and she is over 8 lbs. and has HUGE cottony hair. She looks like Chewbacca from Star Wars! Now I'm remembering that the breeder told me someone was going to buy two sisters and then decided on just one and didn't buy the other - the one I bought. I'm wondering if the breeder knew what the dog was going to turn out like. She told me the pup wouldn't be more than 6 lbs. and she also told me her ears would stand up if I taped them. She taped them the first couple of times and then I did it the remainder of the times. I feel like she cheated me, you know? I love Tinka - she has a wonderful personality and I wouldn't trade her for anything, but it kind of makes me mad about this breeder. I don't know, just feeling like venting, I guess... I don't like dishonest people. omega |

| Maybe she did or maybe she didn't know. Anyhow, I am glad you love her and wouldn't trade her for anything!

| Maybe she didn't lie, and she just didn't know. It's impossible to predict the size of these dogs, so most times they are just guessing. You're happy with Tinka, and she's healthy and happy. That's all that really matters. |

| A breeder should have a pretty good idea what what their lines are going to produce but I imagine alot of them have surprise pups. My breeder told me Chachi was going to be 5lbs and hes 10. He was a tiny 1 lb when I brought him home so I really dont think she could have known

| I don't think a breeder can tell how big they are going to be or what their coats are going to be like at 2 to 3 months old. They shouldn't even try to predict. They should just tell you how big the parents are and tell yhou that their weights can vary. BTW I thought Chewbaca wdas cute |

| I think your Tinka is sooooooooooo adorable. My kids LOVE her picture..of course they LOVE Chewbaca too...they are star wars freaks!! It is impossible to really predict a size and look from a puppy I think. My Reece is 11 weeks old and his dads ears stand and his mom's dont...so far he has one ear up and one down lol...Dont feel too bad about it..your baby is tdf cute!! Dawn |

| As everyone says, it's really hard to pinpoint the final adult weight. The younger they are the harder it is. It seems like the larger ones have a harder time with their ears too. Did you shave the hair off both back and front before taping? As far as being dishonest, if she was out to take advantage of you, she wouldn't have invited you back for shots and grooming help. She would have just taken your money and it would have been the end of it. I'm sorry you're feeling dissappointed in not getting your ideal yorkie, but I don't think you made out so bad. |

| It can be a surprise, for the most part many of the puppies will be consistent (from a good breeder) but then there is that one...the breeder I got Kenzie and Reggie from was pretty regualr in her yokire sizes. The Mom and Dad were 5 and 6 lbs. Almost every single pup was that size. Well Reggie she knew would be smaller, he grew to 4 lbs, her smallest pup to that date. Well came his siter a year later, the largest pup in the litter, until week 5 . She though she would be a big 9-10lbs well she is only 3 lbs...who knew? I wish mine were bigger! We have built stairs for them off the couches but they still will jump now and then and hurt themselves!

| I felt the same way about the breeder I got Louie from. He turned out to be 11 lbs and floppy ears and cotton coat. But I'll tell ya this, he has a GREAT personality. He also was so easy to potty train. He doesn't hardly bark and always minds. Now on the other hand, I have my lil 3.5 lb female who has the her ears up, and has the silky coat. (everything I wanted) But she is a barker and has been harder on potty training. She to has a sweet personality but doesn't listen as well as Louie does. I'm sure the breeder had no intention of ripping you off. They really can't tell you what size they will be. Some can give you an idea, but are not always right. The floppy ears on Louie used to bug me, but I think he looks cuter that way. And his size is just fine with me. He is bigger so he can protect his baby sister. (thats the way I look at it.)

| The breeder of my girl Gracie just had a litter of pups from Gracies moms sister and the father of Gracie... They were both 4lbs and all of her pups were in the 3 to 4lb range and out of no where she had a boy who is now 6months old and weighs 7lbs... she was shocked but sometimes the genes come from way back and you get a bigger pup than expected.

| I'm glad you love Tinka and wouldn't give her back. As long as everything else about her is healthy, there is just a little more to love. I think floppy ears look very cute and her picture is adorable!! Each of our babies has a unique personality and remember that their coats continue to change in color and sometimes in texture also. Perhaps the breeder wasn't dishonest, just not good at predicting how these babies would turn out. I hope she continues to be a wonderful baby!

| welllll, my Tootie is 15,almost 16 pounds! His sister is 6 pounds... but, really he has the BEST personality of any dog. He isAlways happy and just loves to play. He is such a joy in our lives. It must be a larger YT trait for them to be so happy. We have Hopey now too, and she is definitely a tiny little girl so we have the best of both worlds with us!
