| Personally, I feel if you get a little boy and neuter him early like you said, maybe at 3 or 4 months, he will remain a pee squatter and you won't have any problems. I wish I would have done that with Nikko. I think you should definitely get a little boy, Nobella. You won't regret it. I would love to have one of each.

| Scout only lifts his leg outside by bushes, trees, etc, never in the house. He was neutered at 6 months and really easy to potty train. He is the biggest lover bug around...I don't know if that's a boy thing or not, but he's much more affectionate than Pippa. Pippa is very selective about kisses, Scout is passionate with kisses anytime you want them!!

| See Coco is totally all about me when Rob isn't there. She follows me around begging to be loved and picked up all day long (which I love), but when Rob gets there, it's all about getting some rubs and love from daddy. I think probably because he doesn't live with us, is why she gets so attached to him. She gets kinda sad when he leaves But when he's there, she loves on me but mostly on him. She'll do anything for her mommmy, EXCEPT share her daddy I think she would love having a little live in boyfriend She's so snuggly and loving, if my pup was even half as friendly/perfect/smart as Coco is, I will be happy

| I have 2 males and neither one was easy to potty train. Rebel we didn't get until he was 1.5 years old and the family was not home much and let him have the run of the house...he marks everything! He then taught my other yorkie and the dachshund to lift their legs as well. Meeko didn't lift his leg until he was over 3 years old. Now they all try to mark things up. Meeko and Stretch were neutered at no more than 6 months old, but I have no idea about Rebel since we didn't get him as a puppy. I think part of our difficulty was that at the time I worked full time and my kids were still in daycare so they were home longer by themselves. Now they are home after school and my mom lives next door and comes and lets them out so hopefully that will really help a lot with the next baby. |

| I got Dennis at 8 weeks and he was a very quick learner, in fact he was pretty much pottie trained the first week! He has occasionally lifted his leg, but all and all he has been a dream. I just got little Sahara and she is also just remarkable. The first 3 days I thought she was going to be tough because she seemed to not even know what a Pee Pad was, then this last week she has had maybe 2 accidents. I give them both a lot of praise and just today started giving her cookies because she has just been soooo amazingly good! She runs right over to her pad and squats, even sometimes having a preference as to which one to use. Sahara is only 15 weeks now, (I think, May 12th)I am thinking that my success with both of them is that I am with them both around the clock, and they are never out of my sight! |

| My male rat terrier never had an accident. We bought him when he was 9 wks. old He hated to make any kind of mistake, is very sensitive, and feels very guilty when he joins our female in doing something naughty (like harrassaing the turtles). She, on the other hand, feels guilty about nothing. She would pee in our carpeted bedrooms if the door was open and tear papers up if we were gone. She, pretty much doesn't do that and hasn't had an accident since we put wood laminate everywhere in this house. There was something about that carpet!! She was a year in April and Chief is 3. Hope they get along with our new little baby. We pick her up 2 weeks from Sat. Can't wait. Jan |

| I have Ginger F (6 1/2 yrs), Chester M/neutered and Cujo F (littermates 4 1/2 yrs), Parker M (6 yrs), Tiffany F (2yrs) Odie F (1yr) and three pups to be named later (12 weeks). Except for the babies. they ALL hike their legs!! Chester goes over, hikes his leg on something, Ginger follows him, squats and lifts one leg and pees on the spot Chester has just peed on. Then Cujo follows, etc. It's almost like watching a parade or something. At one time of the day, usually first thing in the morning, they do it. It's like a ritual! Wake up mom, go outside and start looking for who pees first!! Then follow. Go back in the house, drink water and go back to bed. Unless mom tries to go back to bed. Then it's their job to make sure mom knows their still awake. When I finally get up----they go back to bed!! But I wouldn't have it any other way. Suz

| I have a male who was neutered at 4 months. He did not lift his leg, but then one day my daughters little un-neutered boy came to play and he did lift his leg. After they left I sawChewie lift his leg and pee on the tree for the first time. I do believe it can be a learned trait. How to stop it, I don't know. Chewie is house broken and doesn't do it in the house, just outside on the bushes and trees, just like human little and big boys do! lol |

| Diesel was housbroken by the time he was 6 months. of course he has had a few accidents but they were all my fault. His bladded is so little that he can't hold it forever. If I get to cleaning sometimes I loose track of time and he will dribble a tad while sitting at my feet waiting to go out. He also isn't fixed and has NEVER marked in the house. We also have a female cocker and a male shepherd. Both have been fixed so I am not sure if this is why he doesn't mark. My grandmothers dogs is HORRIBLE. He hasn't been fixed and will pee all over everything just to do it!! He will also poop in the house whenever he feels like it even if he has gone out before. I just don't understand it.I think a lot of it has to do with the dog's personality . Michelle |

| OOOh, I hope you do decide to get a little boy - the boy/girl combo is sooo perfect. Oscar is my 'golden boy' - and I can't help but have a little soft spot for him as he was my first puppy. I think Coco would love having a little male buddy around - and if she IS really submissive, then I would definitely recommend a male over a female (they call them bitches for reason right? )

| Chewy is 4 months old... He only goes outside so here is how I did it. I bought an enclosed baby play yard...(The kind that has no bottom) and I put it outside and put rocks on the ground so he wouldn't get all dirty every time we went out. He KNOWS this is his potty. He holds it in on walks and when we go out anywhere.. he has held it in up to 8 hours!!!! I was really worried about it and talked to the vet but she said it's ok he will go when he has to! Anyway Chewy has not had an accident in about 5 days now!!!! (SO COOL!) I owe this way of potty trainig to my very wonderful friend who has a yorkie and told me what she did. before this I was going crazy trying to walk Chewy and get him to go... I was going crazy and thought he would never get it. My hubby is going to build a roof over the potty area so he doesn't get wet in rain and the snow when it comes doesn't fill in his area! (My hubby's a builder!)
