This is SO HORRIBLE!! These yorkies are in the Knoxville/Chattanooga area. They are at a breeders, eaten up by the mange and who knows what else. They had to SNEAK into the breeders and snap these few pics of them. It's so sad I can't stand it. I e-mailed them because I live close to see if there's anything I can do in addition to making a donation. How can people do this?! Here's the link. If they can't get enough donations they won't be able to rescue these babies. The full story and pics are here: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/...?petid=6865654 |
Well, getting the info here might help. Possibly bring in more donations. One question though, (and please everyone, take this the right way) how can we be sure this is legit??? I almost clicked the paypal button right away, and WILL donate, but does anyone know how to be certain this is for real? Does petfinder.com monitor the rescues that post there??? Bhoozersmama - can you shed more light on this? |
I'm going to find more details soon. Their p.o. box address is in Madisonville which is only about 10 miles from my house. I e-mailed them for more details and as soon as I get a reply I'll post it on here. You can NEVER be too careful when making donation to anyone. I hope that since I'm so close I can do something to get them the care they need. Maybe an adoption will come out of it too.:( |
1 Attachment(s) I'm sorry but that's BULL that they need donations to rescue them. THE pictures are enough for the ASPCA to step in and take those poor dogs. I had a neighbor who had a dog that was suffering horribly in the hot sun 2 years ago with 1/3 of his skin just raw (I don't know what was wrong) Chanel alerted me to him by barking and whining at MY fence. He had gone and layed in the corner of his yard I THINK... To die - When I saw there was a dog in the yard - I climbed way up on my fence to take a look and was SHOCKED - So I got out my camera - took pictures & with my zoom lens. I also called the Houston ASPCA and emailed them too with the pictures along with the address and cross streets. They came within less than 48 hours and saved that dog. They did NOT need a donation to save that dog !!! Ernie at the ASPCA (who is on Houston Cops) called me to tell me if it weren't for the pictures - they wouldn't have acted so fast but that was the clincher for them to move quickly. These people need to notify the authorities and get all those dogs out of there. I HATE people who let dogs suffer like that...I just HATE THEM ! ps...THE PICTURE I posted is NOT as graphic as the other ones I took - (I don't want to upset anyone) - but this is that poor baby trying to look at me while I talked to him.... He never did get up and try to walk towards me. When I saw this poor guy I wanted to jump that fence and just SMACK his owner. |
I kinda questioned it as well. There are sooooooooo many scams out there and I don't want to fall into them. So how do we know for sure? |
Let me add that once a dog is IN rescue - then donations are ok to ask for if it's legit. But to have them physically removed from the premises - a simple phone call and pictures of the abuse will work for the authorities to make a trip to the place they reside. They will check out the conditions of the animals and TAKE them if they are being abused or neglected. If the neglect is minor the breeder would receive a citation - if it's major - they have the choice to surrender the dogs or take a chance of going to court. That's what they DO. |

Now that is one thing that pisses me off......Seeing a dog with open wounds etc...and the owner doing nothing about it. And that is a very pretty dog!!! I bet it got or will be adopted fast. V, you are the best for saving that baby. |
No...I did what any of us would do. I was lucky Chanel was upset and I went to check it out. If it weren't for her I would never have known. He was a gorgeous dog...The ASPCA said he was only about a year old and believe me - you don't want to see the rest of the pictures - it was way worse than what that showed. But with these poor yorkies - if that Rescue is asking for donations to help the dogs already saved - then I spoke too soon - but if they're trying to say no one would step in to save these dogs - and they have pictures - but need more money - I just don't get that. If it were me - I'd even call the COPS to get someone at least knocking on the door. There has to be some way for them to do this |
What the H*LL is wrong with people??!! They make me SICK!! Anyone that lets an animal suffer, needs a SMACK!! |
My issue with this is. They're raising donations to BUY those dogs from the abusers. or said abusers are going to put the dogs down. and then treat them. Okay. Looks flame me if you want. but wouldn't that kinda just let the BYB's go buy more dogs and breed again.? |
On the site it says there are no laws in this area to protect them and that they contacted the authorities that told them there's nothing that can be done. I've never dealt with anything like this so I don't know if it's true or not. I'm going to find out where these people are and what can be done. If anything I'll see if I can't locate these poor babies and call the authorities on them myself. No reply from them yet. Hopefully soon. |
Oh my gosh, those people are sickos. I really hate opening these kind of topics because they always make me think about the poor dogs all day and it gets to me big time. At the same time, maybe a different yorkie rescue could step in. I noticed the dogs are in TN. The president of the yorkshire terrier national rescue also resides there, her name is Mary Elizabeth Dugmore and I am forwarding this info to her!! |
I too, was tempted to hit paypal and make a donation. After all of the scams you hear about though, I decided to hold off until we know more. Have you contacted your local ASPCA authorities? I can't believe there is not a legal way to have these poor babies removed from there. Keep us posted on what you find out today, thanks! |

Keep trying and good luck to you - if there's anything I can do to help - let me know ok ? |

It's hard for me to believe that there's no kind of law here to protect these poor babies. I haven't called the ASPCA yet because I want to find out where this breeder is first if I can. If I can't find out something by tonight I'm going to contact someone in the morning. It's hard to sit here, knowing that they are still suffering. I know a lady that works at the local animal shelter. I'm going to stop by there after I pick up my kid from school and ask her about it. I'm not going to rest until I KNOW they are safe and getting help. |

:( This is just horrible, Villette I am so glad you found out about that poor dog and was able to contact the ASPCA in time. |
OMG how could someone walk away and leave dogs that look like that without calling local authorities! that's horrid! those POOR dogs. someone needs to report it some how asap! i don't think anyone should try to work with a "breeder" that let's their dogs get to that condition! |

Do animal rights laws differ form state to state? Im not trying to sound dumb, I really just thought animal cruelty would be something that everystate would have laws against  and I thought that SPCA was nationwide. Is it not? Can we not contact the SPCA about this? |
I din't read past the first post and donated, hopefully it is legit and it will be used to help these poor babies. |
Well, I called the number listed on the site and only got a voice mail. I left a messege but have not gotten a reply yet. I did get a reply to the e-mail I sent and all that they said in the e-mail is that they took those pics last night and they hope to get enough donations to rescue them. So I went to the ASPCA website and clicked on report animal cruetly and typed in Tennessee. The closest law inforcement for animals is in Chattanooga which is about 1hour and a half from here. I'm going to e-mail them right now and tell them all about it and see what they say. I e-mailed this other group back and asked them if they were in Monroe county (which is where I'm at) since the p.o. box is in Monroe county. One way or another I'm going to help rescue those pups. If I can't get any answers today I'm going down to the madisonville police department and asking them what can be done. If any of you can think of anything that else that I could do let me know. |
This is the absolute worst thing I've seen! BoozhersMama, thank you for doing this for these sweet babies. Please continue to keep us updated on what you find out. I'm in Huntsville, AL, about an hour and a half from Chattanooga. Please let me know if there is anything at all I can do. You can email me personally if you can think of anything. rcdonnellan@gmail.com |
That is horrible and disgusting! What kind of human being would allow that to happen? |
Here's her reply I sent her an e-mail saying that we were more than willing to help but were concernedIn a message dated 8/24/2006 5:20:30 P.M. I wrote her back and told her that you guys are the most loving kind hearted people I've ever met and that you just wanted to be careful. |
I received a nice email from the rescue for my donation. I hope she can save these poor babies. |
This might explain it a little better This is the e-mail I just received: Subj: Re: donations Date: 8/24/06 7:36:21 PM Eastern Daylight Time From: AsianDogRescue To: Thanse35 Quote:

Hold on a second... I ran a rescue for three years, and yes there were times (not often) that a dog had to be "bought" out of hell. Now as far as them asking for donations to BUY the dogs, 1st needs to be determined if they have their 501-3(c) non profit status. I am in eastern TN.. I will do some investigtion on this, I should know someone who knows someone who can tell me something. In this area, for the shelter to remove dogs, they have to prove there is no food, water, shelter.. otherwise, they can stay, no matter how filthy. If the shelter DOES take them, they will likely be euthanized. If the rescue takes them, some of them will be able to be rehabilitated and vetted. The shelter taking a dog or dogs is NOT always a good thing. Especially considering the sickness in the shelters, non vaccinated dogs dont stand a chance. They will then be adoped (if not killed) to the first Moron with an adoption fee.. YES rescue needs to take care of this.. they are trained to deal with dogs like this, and the rehab they are going to need. I have personally worked several puppymill busts, and rehabed puppymill dogs, and it is NOT pretty. Kudos to them for being willing to take this on, they have more in them than I do anymore...I've had enough. Anyways, I will do some research on this rescue, and post my findings, but I am SURE they are not scamming, as I can count on one hand the number of toy breeders just in this area with dogs that look just like those. I PRAY they are shutting one of them down. Quote:
