These are some of the most caring, giving, generous individuals on this forum and no doubt would do what is necessary to help these dogs. It is just a sign of the times that we have to verify everything. I'll be happy to donate to the vet for their care. I'll be in contact with them. Thank you and Laurie for what you are doing. Bless you both! |
If this recue is legit, how come it is not listed anywhere in PetFinder or Tenn.? There are only 2 recues in that area. One is Prevent a Litter Connection & the 2nd is Monroe County Animal Shelter, both organizations can help these puppies. They are liasted as recue organizations with a correct street address not a post office box. |
Here is the petfinder link http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/...?petid=6865654 |

OK I went to that link, put in the city and TN and they list the rescue organizations in that area, what I was saying is that theirs is not listed as a rescue organization, so out of the 2 that are, I would call the Monroe County ANimal Shelter and just ask them if in fact this is a true rescue organization. If they say yes, then it most likely is legit, if they say no, I would believe them as that city is small and afterall they are using a post office box when most recues use addresses right? |
I seen this today when I was at work and couldn't reply...but it made my physically sick:mad: |

i also live in TN....and i will be sending money to help....this is sad that anyone would let thier dog get in this shape "redneck" or not....i also think it is sad that ppl from tn would be putting thier state and the ppl who live in it down....i live in eastern tn also and it is a beautiful place to live. i am very proud of the sate i live in...and its not everywhere you look you see rednecks and dogs being abused.....i also live in a "trailer" and my yorkie is takencare of as well if not better than anyone on here...he is my baby and trust me he does not want for anything he eats the best has the best OF EVERYTHING....yes We live in a trailer but that does not make us bad pet owners or rednecks or poor ppl......that comment just cut to the bone to be honest with you i see no reason to put TN ppl down for where they live.....now if i have offended anyone let me know and i will not be back that is ok with me i just felt the need to let everyone here know that just because i live in a trailer and in tn that i am not a redneck poor or bad person or bad pet owner......now back to the subject i am very sorry these dogs are in the shape they are in and like i said b4 i will be sending money to help with the rescue ..... it is sad this happens to animlas no matter that state you live in. |
   |
I agree with you , I love living here in Tennessee and I don't live in a Trailer, which means nothing, but I take very good care of my animals, they are clean, well feed, and have a very clean enviroment...but some people all over the states are just as bad as in Tennessee..Its sad and something needs to be done...I have already sent a donation, and will help more if needed...I am sorry that you got your feelings hurt, it got me too but the main purpose of YT is to help each other and yorkies, These poor yorkies really need help, so please don't let one or two comments make you leave....:) |
Well here's the latest update I spoke to a police officer yesterday and he pretty much told me what the lady at the precious paws rescue said. He said there's nothing they can do about it and reminded me that it was only recently that this county got a shelter. Well, I pretty much lost it. He said he understood and had pets himself and that I could talk to the MAYOR. This is exactly what the rescue lady told me would happen. So I went to the animal shelter and they are going to call me back today. The people I talked to are getting me in contact with someone named Valerie there and acted like they couldn't even talk about it or had no idea how to help me. I haven't heard back from any of the news stations yet. |

I didn't address this earlier (I understand your offense) bc I was trying to stay on the issue of getting help for these dogs and skeptical donors. I loved traveling in TN, especially the eastern area, just beautiful. IMO, it was no worse than any other area of the country in regards to the "rednecks". And, as far as what you live in, it is your home, be proud, you've no reason not to. Also, please don't allow the labels some people choose to use keep you from being here. We need you here!!!:) |
I agree with Jenn....I didn't take those comments as labeling - I saw them for what they were - a town with hardly any animal control/help plan - there are towns all over the country just like that. No reason to get offended - I'm sure the person who said that didn't mean it that way...and many of us probably didn't take it that way. on the PETA comments - I know they're fanatics but that incident that was brought up must have happened a long time ago (you said you were a child when you witnessed it ?). I think they've come a long way since that kind of thing. They are out there to help animals and if it weren't for them - we would never have the awareness we have now. I don't agree with all their methods - but they sure do get our attention and that's half the battle right there. |
I just spoke to the Monroe County animal shelter The ladies name is Vickie at Monroe County animal shelter. They said they know precious paws to be a legit rescue service and confirmed what the officer told me: There is no laws in place to protect animals in this county and no one to enforce the laws. |

Surely I am not offended but since you do live in Tenn, perhaps you can shed some light on this subject. Will the authorities in Tenn do anything to dog owners that leave their pups to get in this condition. I think a lot of us far away can't see this happening, our animal shelter would have those people in jail, fined or both and they would not allow them to ever own an animal again. I plan on calling the Monroe Animal SHelter tomorrow but if you know the truth on this matter, we would be interested in hearing it from you. We don't care if they are poor or anything, just to make it that they can not breed again, once these dogs are taken from them because of how they neglected them. thanksPS we have no doubt you take care of your baby and we don't want you to leave. |

GREAT QUESTION! |
I have no idea why not. But if I were to speculate I'd say that it's because we are so tiny and rural. We have a walmart and couple of fast food places and that's about it. We have no movie theater, no mall nothing. The closest big town is an hour away. It's mostly a farming community. I encourage each of you that may be skeptical to call the Monroe County animal shelter at 423-442-1015. Ask for Vickie. She's the one in charge of working with the rescue groups but anyone that answers can probably tell you that there's no laws in place here to protect animals. You guys from Michigan should know how rural most of these places are since half the state of Michigan is in Tennessee in the summer time. |
Quote:
Wel, I'm not so sure that near half the State of Michigan is there over the summer, 90% of the people I know go up North, and as for me, I go to New York, which leaves 9% that might go to Tenn. maybe? but that has nothing to do with the puppies, and from what you are saying, we give $$, they resuce the pups, then the mom goes in heat again say in 3 more months or less (that would be 6 months minus the pregancy time and the 6 weeks or so since the pups were born, then she has another litter, then we donate again, then she has more, then we donate again. There HAS to be another avenue. Going in circles is not going to stop this person who doesn't seem to care about anything living. Someone has the answer, if not the Monroe Animal Shelter, then higher up. It is time this type of thing gets someone's attention. Our government has laws, they protect everyone, including those living in rural areas I would think. |
Yeah I hear what your saying. When will it end. Do we just keep rescuing while this worthless piece of crap breeder keeps making money hand over fist? I don't know. All I know is that I couldn't go to sleep tonight with the images of those mange dogs in my head knowing that I didn't do anything to try and save them. I don't plan on stopping with just a donation. I'm going to contact the mayors office and start a petition to get some kind of law in place to put puppy mill breeders in jail. There are many that have contacted me that live close by that are willing to help as well. Just make sure you call the shelter for yourself. Maybe they can explain it a little better than I can. 423-442-1015 |

OK so in your opinion they are legit, I just want to say, I sold a saxaphone on "Craigs List.com" to a Doctor Kelly Anderson, whom was such a lovely lady in my opinion. Her son wanted a sax so much, she lived in Oklahoma I think. Anyway within a couple of days she sent me a prepaid shipping label to mail her the sax, TO NIGERIA! in tiny letters on the shipping label, which both myself & fed-ex missed, it had the Nigerian address and also stated "bill shipper" and that would be me, out a sax, out $690 in shipping charges and here's the bets, the United States Postal Money Order (one of the safest money orders in the United States) was stolen! I really liked Doctor Kelly Anderson and thought she was such a nice lady to get her son involved in music, Did she have a son? Who knows but she almost had a saxaphone!!!! FREE |
I should turn off my computer now Ok still thinking :questione Is Tenn. the only state that can not help animals in need? BoozhersMama: Was this the first thread you made bringing our attention to these puppies? If so did you join to make this thread? Do you know the people personally that are "recuing" these puppies? Just curious, and any donater has the right to be curious where their money is going to right? Thanks in advance |
Okay, first let me say that it was only my opinion that the rescue place was legit only AFTER I called the Monroe county animal shelter and ASKED them if it was and they said yes. Please call them yourself at [B]423-442-1015[B] and ask them what kind of laws are in place in this county to protect animals. PLEASE CALL AND ASK YOURSELF. I joined this forum in early August because I have a 6 year old Yorkie that I love and I thought this was a place that I could share my love for him and learn more about how to better take care of his health. I happened upon this forum by accident because I was looking for a birthday cake to make for Bentley's birthday which was August 13th. When I did a google search this site came up. That's how I found YT. I do not know a single person at the precious paws rescue. The only reason I found out about it was I was looking on petfinder.com for a yorkie to rescue and there they were, the mange poor little babies. I thought that you guys would be outraged and might want to help so I posted the link on this site. I'll tell you anything you want to know about me. I have nothing to hide. My name is Tonya Hansen I'm 36, I'm a scout master, I have been married for 11 years and have one son. I volunteer at my sons elementary one day a week and I'm a stay at home mom. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and I'm 1st councelor in the primary presidency. I live in Vonore Tennessee in Monroe County. My phone number is 423-884-3958. You may call me any time. My husbands name is Brett. I have no alterior motives by being a member of this site. I just love yorkies. I was just trying to do the right thing by posting the petfinder link about the mangy dogs. |

I'm sure this anger is directed at me and I am sorry I angered you. Please don't hold it against any other YTers. and Thank you for answering my Q's. If you read my post previous to the one you replied to, I was scammed badly by Doctor Kelly Anderson and I liked her so much. I was also born & raised in New York so scams are soemthing I saw a lot of and yet I still let myself be had by Doctor Kelly. I will also tell you soemthing about me. I saw an ad for TV repair service and even tho my Dad was a TV repairman I thought it would be easier to fix it here in Michigan (where I live now after rasing 2 daughters & 1 son) instead of packing it up and bringing it home to Dad. I HELPED carry my TV set into the repairman's car, and never saw it again! So you don't need to be angered because people at YT are afraid of scams, I feel for my share, I am sure I am not the only one and even tho I also worked at my children's school, it doesn't mean I can't fall for a scam OR believe anything I hear. But thank you for answering the original question |
I'm not at all angry. I'm just saying for all of you that's skeptical, it would be much easier to just call the shelter and ask them yourself. I don't know if people are in there taking calls on sunday but I'm sure someone will be there first thing monday morning est. And ask for Vickie who is in charge of the shelter and works with the various rescue groups. This world is full of crooks. You can never be too careful about who your dealing with. Why, I get an e-mail every other day from paypal wanting me to "update" my account and I don't even HAVE a paypal account. So I understand being cautious but I guess it's a little hard to understand that so many of you can't believe that we don't have any laws to protect animals here. There simply are none. I don't know why. I hope to change it. |

ANIMAL CONTROL IN CONTROL apparently those in the animal control aren't all that concerned are they would be fighting mad to get laws passed through out your state. It is totally disgraceful that there is such as this going on there. It doesn't matter how small a community is or how large animal control's purpose is for the the well being of all animals. I think that it is good you are trying to help them, but help should have started long, long time ago by getting laws to protect them, Pets have rights and the very first one is to be treated humanely, what about the Vets in your area aren't they out there fighting mad. I urge you and others there to start emailing your government officials and let them know something needs to be done. Get petitions started. Don't you all have a health department, has anyone thought to contact the health department on this? I don't live in your State, but I am going to email your government officials to let them know they ought to be ashamed, maybe some of them should forfit their high paying political position and go get a job as dog catchers and part of there job be in rescuing these poor ones abused. Here is a site for those interested in emailing State officials in Tennessee, it has there email address's and phone numbers. As soon as I finish posting this I am going directly to email those I found here and I encourage others to do so too. http://www.tennesseeanytime.org/government/elected.html |
Thanks BabyBlessing, I am heading there now.... |
