Lord help me.........the blind leading the blind. Why would anyone give sugar to a healthy dog? If the puppy isn't sick now it will be if you give them sugar every day.

Puppies need a balanced diet, especially when they were purchased wayyyyyyyy to young in the first place.

I've heard too many horror stories on here of puppies dying form hypoglocemia. Neither of mine would eat well when I brought them home, so I gave BOTH of my puppies NutriCal about every 4 hours the first week I had them. Then as they stress wore off and they started eating better, I gave them less and less NutriCal. Today they are perfectly healthy little doggies. I will always recommend doing this. If you tell people not to do this, you will see many many more deaths on here. My vet and breeder BOTH recommend I do this. Not only has it worked for me, but obviously it has worked for MANY MANY MANY others on here, too.

Your wrong, healthy puppies never need life support.......

I've been breeding and showing for 20 years, and have never used these for puppies and have never told new owner to use them. Again, this is not a good practice for long term health. This is something that Pet Stores, Puppy Brokers and the Puppy Mills practice.

Well, I got both of my yorkies from a reputable breeder...not a pet store or puppy mill. They are perfectly healthy now and I have never had a bit of trouble with them. They've never had a hypoglocemic attack. Because not everyone on here purchases their yorkie from a show breeder, I will always recommend that they give their pup something to sustain their blood sugar levels to prevent hypoglocemia and death of their puppy.

You can buy it at most any pet store. I know for sure that PetSmart has it. You don't need to give it to your puppy if it is 12 weeks old AND it is eating well throughout the day. However, if your puppy is NOT eating 3 good meals a day, then I would recommend giving it to them to prevent a hypoglocemic attack.

I'm so glad you were able to take the puppy back and get a refund. I'm sorry for the little puppy though. I hope he doesn't have a horribly painful life. I have to wonder what is going to happen to him.

I'm not going to debate this with someone that knows it all because they have a pet. If someone wants to know if it is the wise thing to do, all they need to do is call a Vet and ask if a puppy should take/need sugar daily to keep healthy. It could give them a good laugh for the day.
