Am I a Newbie? I guess I kinda am, even though I don't really feel like it! My name is Rosie, and my boyfriend who loves to pretend to be me on here's name is Bryan. We have 1 yorkie, a 3 month old named Linus, and a 1 year old daschund/chihuahua Lucy. I love Peanuts can you tell? We live in Norman, Oklahoma where we both attend OU (Boomer Sooner!!!!). I am a senior, and will graduate next May, after 6 long years in college, with a double major in Political Science and Sociology and a minor in Spanish. My boyfriend is a freshman (I hoped on the younger boyfriend bandwagon ;) ) and he's going for a double major in Philosophy and Political Science. We both plan on going to law school, him for civil/criminal law and me for international law. We both compete for OU in competitive academic debate, which is probably what drove us both to become lawyers. And we are both HUGE football fans, like a lot of the people here. We got Linus because I have always wanted a Yorkie, even since I was a little kid. We spent a lot of time with his Nana's yorkies, one of which is the tiniest thing I have ever seen (less than 2 lbs...he was a rescue) and just fell in love with their personalities. We were looking through the local paper and saw one within our price range, and that was it. We knew it was fate. Next thing we knew we were meeting the breeder and picking out our baby. A month later, we couldn't be happier with our decision. I would like to thank all of you who have helped us on this forum. Even if it's just a funny story when I'm having a bad day, you are the greatest! I love having people that I can turn to when I have a question, and won't judge me on my ignorance about the topic. Thanks so much for all of the support and great advice you have given me, and for making sure that I don't inadvertantly hurt my little baby (bad food, no nutrical...what would I do without you.) |
Newbie says Thanks HI.My name is Windy and I'm pretty new here. I feel a little out of place because right now I don't have a yorkie. My little girl died in February and I miss her so much and no one seems to understand, so I though if I kept myself attached to other yorkie owners I wouldn't feel so alone in this. She was 8, and wasn't even sick, just died in my arms while sleeping. The shock aggravated my heart and put me in the hospital, the bills are about to bankrupt me and there's no way I can come up with the money to get another yorkie. So, I guess I'm enjoying yorkies vicariously now through pics and stories on the net. No one knows but another yorkie lover how special these little dogs are. Sophie was a crackerjack little tomboy, she was a gift and I never thought I could love anything so much. I did housework with one hand so I could carry her with me all the time, she weighed 4 pounds and was the sweetest little thing, we were a pair and now I'm alone. Thanks for welcoming us new people here, it's very nice of you to want to get to know us! |

Sophie I wish I had pics on my computer. It's just been one heartbreak after another here. My computer crashed on me the day after Sophie passes and all my pics of her on it are gone. I have a few hard copies but no scanner. I was promised a pup by a lady who strung me along for almost 2 months telling me all about this puppy, only to find out it never even existed, nor did she! I don't know why someone would do that, she sent me pics and everything. Sophie was a black and tan, she had a little silver on her ears and a box nose, every time I would brush her she would work really hard messing her hair back up the way she liked it! She was so spoiled that she would bark for her water and would get it fresh out of the bottle in the fridge, no warm water on the floor for my baby! She slept on my pillow and woke me up every morning with a kiss, I miss them so. |

Newbie Hello, I found this website while looking at pics of yorkies. I have an eight year old named Bo. I had my first yorkie when I was 16 yo. He died at an early age of about 3yrs because he broke his leg and the vet ODed him. This was in the 60's so thank God we have come along ways since then. I lived in Texas then and have since moved to Colorado. Before my move I bought Megan a 3 lb yorkie. She was the best roommate I ever had. She passed at age 13 of kidney failure. I was devastated. I heard about a breeder in New Mexico that had a male for sale and thought about it because I really wanted another female and did not want to go through the pain of losing another. Needless to say I decided to adopt another and that is how I got Bo. I always thought yorkies were the best dogs and nobody really understood. Everything you could every want in a small compact body. I am so glad to meet people that feel like me and have found alot of answers here. I am thinking of getting a second yorkie but am waiting to sort out my money situation. I will post a pic soon. Thanks |
You wouldn't believe it! It wasn't money. She got me good. Had a 2 week old pup for me, missing toe, $200 no papers. Mommy quit feeding, cat killed pup. Sent pic of male stud puppy, same agreement, arranged meeting. Said pregnant daughter killed in crash in CA, would have someone meet me. Waited 2 hours, no show. Researched a bit, no such person, pic was stolen! Like losing 3 babies in as many months. Once I get my heart fixed I can go back to work and then I am saving up for another little girl. I already have everything else I need (friends gave me a 'puppy shower' to cheer me up). I gave Sophie's things to the local shelter, she would have liked that, she loved to share! Alas, I am older and wiser now! |
New member. I have 2 yorkies. Jake and Harley. Harley was a rescue we adopted about 5 yrs ago. Jake is 7yrs old and we think Harley is about the same. Jake has just been diagnosed with Addison's disease this afternoon. |
Hello Hi guys Thank you for including me. I am a stay home mum with a little 10month old man. We have just adopted a 4yo Yorkie named scruffy from a family that have had to move into a non doggie friendly apartment. He loves kids, and well just about everything in life, except cats. I look forward to being a part of this new and exciting community of Yorkie lovers. A |
Lynne here. Mom to 4 mo. old Fabian, "the Yorkshire Terrorist". We love him so much (even with all the "zoomies" and steaming poos on the carpet) and are so appreciative of our breeder for giving him a great start. Lot of pix in the "Fabian" photo album with my profile. |
Introduction Hi all! Full disclosure: I am new to forums, and to being a pet owner. My name is Isabel, I'm about to turn 28. I live in NYC and I am going to be receiving an adorable little Yorkie on June 9th. (late birthday present :animal36) I am freaking out with excitement but I am also anxious because I don't know what to expect. The breeder has been very nice about answering questions and explaining things to me, but still, I thought joining this forum would be a good idea. :) P.S. My breeder is all the way out in Tennessee so thats also making me a little nervous. |
