| Floppy Ears! My yorkie, Roscoe, is 7 months old and his ears still aren't standing up. I keep the hair on them shaved, but they're still floppy. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can help them stand up? |

| Rambos ears used to be floppy and i think they were so cute when they were like that. Now they are down when he is being cute and up when he is alert or chasing flies and birds. Why do they need to be up anyway? I say let their ears do what they want its a bit unfair to tape them up dont you think? they look just as cute floppy!

| My ruby was a late bloomer. I started taping them at 3 months but they would only droop again within a day after the tapre came off. I was persistant and kept taping for like 2 months. Finally one up on down and I still had hopre even at 7 months because the down one was out to the side like the Flying Nun. FINALLY by about 10 months they both went up and STAyed

| My sweet little Rexy - who is 6 1/2 months old has floppy ears. I kept them shaved till he was 6 months old and we taped them up on 3 occasions. Here is a pix of them taped, we used masking tape. I've since decided he is perfect, ears up or down - don't you think so???

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Some ears just never stand. Could your dog be losing baby teeth? This MAY cause them to flop back down. Also, the thickness of the leather...overly thick ear leather is naturally heavier.

| Louie's ears would never stay up either. We taped em but they just had a mind of their own. So we left them be. When I first saw Elle, she had one up and one kinda down. So we taped it for a week. And after we took the tape off it has always stopp straight up. We keep the hair short on her ears and have not had any problems since.

| Lol! As you can see by my avatar, Ginger's ears never did stand. Yes, we tried the taping. I think that works for some, and not for others. Although, turns out, I think she's beautiful the way she turned out! Many on here have taped and had success, so I'm sure someone can help you. Back when I was trying to get Ginger's to stand, I found a web site with pics of how to tape, I'll try to locate it.

Thanks for the compliments on Rexy - but we actually haven't trimmed his ears yet - we kept them shaved till about 3 weeks ago, thinking they might stand. When they didn't we decided to let the hair grow and the results are in the pix! I think we may let the hair grow out a bit longer, not sure though!

| My 11-month old dog's ears were up -- but over the last month or so, they've started falling down. I took him to the groomer and got a lot of hair removed from his ears - and before the day was over, they were back up. I'm glad they're back up - because personally, I think the erect ears are very much a part of the "Yorkie look" With floppy ears, they certainly are cute little dogs, but they just don't look like little Yorkies to me. | Biscuit was about 10 months when his both started to stand...before it was one up and one down. I dkon't know how much good it did, but first I trimmed the excess hair off and I fed him a high protein diet and supplemented boiled chicken and chicken livers. Within a month of having him the ears perked right up and haven't dropped since. Oh, I feed Innova EVO.

| Just be sure, no matter what happens with your yorkies ears that you keep it in perspective. We tried to get Ginger's to go up, then had one up, then another, then both, then both down...they just couldn't make up there mind...We taped, we trimmed, we added protein to her diet... Then, one day, I was freaking out because one had dropped and the other was up... DH looked at me, and said calmly. Okay, let's take her back I realized right then that I was overreacting, and quit trying. Her ears are down, and I think she's beautiful... So, do what you must, follow the great advice here, and hopefully it will work. BUT, if not, enjoy your floppy eared baby. Believe me, Roscoe doesnt care, he just wants you to be happy with him.
