| How do boy Yorkies use a piddle pad? I was posting about piddle pads and wondered how boys do it, especially if they lift their leg?

| Well mine started out using the pee pads and he squatted. He now goes outside and still squats, but kinda lifts his leg (but not really). I had him neutered at 6 months and he didn't ever mark and I have only seen him left his leg really high a couple times when we are out walking. But in his normal bathroom area, he just squats. I think most males squat at an early age, don't they??

| HAHA Julz you are so funny Simon started lifting his leg about 6 months ago and I panicked! He has been potty trained since I got him but what I found was that he still squats on the pad or he may lift his leg a little but doesn't miss. Outside he will hike his leg up so high he has fallen over a couple times |

| Seriously, someone did mention wrapping a pee pad around a 2 liter pop bottle full of water (for weight) and placing a pee pad under it. The dog should pee on the bottle once he starts to lift his leg. However, they tend to squat until they are over 6 months old and longer (just generalization). |

| strangly enough, Scout squats on the pee pad and lifts his leg outside. Of course, it's aways by a tree or bush

| A friend of mine tapes a pee pad around a big coffee can and puts that on top of another pee pad.

Sorry, don't have an answer to your question since I have a babygirl, but the reason I got a babygirl was because I was afraid a boy would lift his leg. Now that I have read this thread, I am thinking, perhaps that was a silly and uneducated reason. Oh well, I love Mia.

| I don't know myself, but I've read that if you have them neutered at a very young age, like 3 months, then they shouldn't lift their leg.

| Huh... Learned something new today... I thought once boys started to lift their leg they do it every time! Guess not! It's neat that they make the adjustment depending on where they are relieving themselves.
