| O My Gosh I was scared to death!! When I got up this morning my little Misha was in her little pen limp, listless, and seemed almost comatosed. When I picked her up her body was like a little beenie babies. Her eyes just rolled back. I ran and got the Nutri Cal. I have researched enough on this great site that I had some on hand. I even knew from reading on here that she was Hypoglocemic. I put some Nutri Cal on her lips and tried to get it into her mouth, but it wasn't helping. I yelled to my husband that I had to get her to the vet quick. The vet is about 10 miles away. As we were going to the vet she started to throw up. I ran into the vets office handed her to the receptionist and said she needs to see a Dr. NOW!! Well, they kept her all day. They said she is fine now. But I'm still scared. She is not playful or happy acting. Would this just make her tired but she would still be okay? What about eating? They told me to make sure she eats plenty, but she is not eating. We've been home about a little over an hour. I'm so scared it will happen again. |

| Wow, that's great that you were able to get her to the vet so quickly. Do you have any wet food or anything that you could mix into her food to make sure that she eats? When Kona is picky, I mix a little bit of plain yogurt into her dry food. She'll at least eat some of it then. |

| I'm glad she's doing better, and I hope this was a one time thing for her. Did the vet tell you what was wrong w/ her? |

Thanks for the tips on what to feed her. She doesn't really like the Lil Caesars but I will try the other things. How much should a little dog eat? She is 9 weeks old and weighs just over 1lb. | |

| Maybe give her Nutrical every 2-3 hours until she starts acting herself again? |

| I'm so glad she is OK now! Please don't take this as rude, BUT I also read another thread about an 8 week old puppy at it's new home - why are these pups being allowed to leave so young? It was my understanding that the smaller breeds, yorkie, maltese, etc. were to be with their littermates until at least the age of 12 weeks. |

| I would give her Nutri-cal 3-4 times a day, really put some on her tongue and gums, not really on the lips. If she ends up not wanting the nutri-cal, I added Karo to mine's water. He only had the one episode at 9 weeks old, but I made sure he ate every couple of hours, even a little bit, and drank plenty of water. Also, puppies that young need plenty of rest. They use up all their energy playing, another good reason why they should be left with their mothers until 10-12 weeks of age.

| trixie--- This in no way could be your fault! She's lucky she has you to look after her! My problem would be with her breeder for releasing a pup so small before the age of 12 weeks. But that's water under the bridge.....for now she MUST eat and drink! It puts you in an awkward spot having to find something that she will eat readily and eat enough of! Try white meat chicken, small pieces maybe even mixed with some rice. If she doesn't eat enough you'll have to supplement with the Nutri-cal. Hugs to Misha.... |

| Don't start to blame yourself, granted any research would have forewarned you about hypoglycema, but the breeder should have given you all kinds of information. The puppy really did need to stay with the mommy longer, time to grow and get stronger. It puts some stress on them leaving mom too early and then going to a strange place. Even being too cold or stressed can cause hypoglycemia. Just make sure the puppy is eating and drinking and be really watchful of this.

| It really sounds like you're a good mommy, because you knew what to do. I'm sure eveyone will keep you and your baby in our prayers, I know I will. Don't worry too much, you will be doing the right things.
