Hello! When you say she doesn't make friends very easily, do you mean people or other dogs? In what sorts of instances does she snap - is it always or only under certain circumstances? Also, what type of socialisation has she had? I wouldn't worry by the way, I've read that Yorkies are one breed that can always be retrained and she's still very young so don't be too anxious just yet

I had the same problem with Lexie -- I always carry little cookies or treats in my pockets and hand them to anyone wanting to see her -- she has now learned that meeting people is a good thing.

| No she doesnt make people friends easy. She will bite them if they try to get close to her and barks insanly. I have took her around different people all her life since she was 7 weeks old and she still doesnt make friends easy. The people that she has known and her family is all she likes

You need to try to figure out why she is behaving this way. She could be shy and she is frightened. she could feel that you are not the pack leader and she is trying to take over and protect you. If it is shyness and a mistrust of strangers, then giving the strangers treats to give her might help, but my dogs will not take treats from strangers. If she feels that you are not doing your job as pack leader than you need to establish with her that you are in charge. Try this website, he has a lot of good information on that subject. http://www.dogchannel.com/experts/cesar/default.aspx

Mitzi is not friendly (agressive) with other dogs and shy and very reserved with other people. She was always this way and I guess it's just her personality.

Also, please note (although this may not apply to Hayley) that taking a dog everywhere with you in a carrier does NOT count as socializing a dog. Puppies don't learn how to cope with new people on their own this way.
