| I agree with you. People are so irresponsible. My sister runs a rescue and they constantly call her asking her to take thier pets. She has to explain to them that's not really what she does, she's concerened about the ones dying in the shelter and getting those out. They ONLY time she will take them is if she knows they won't be in her foster care long or if it's someone dropping off an unwanted she makes a deal with them to get the pet fixed. Just last week some lady dropped off 2 mixed breed puppies, the lady said that she couldn't "afford" to get her dog fixed. So my sister offered to take the dog to do it for free and give it back. Animals shouldn't have to suffer through having litters all the time or too young just because humans are irresponsible. I am really starting to dislike Craigslist because there are SO MANY people dumping off animals, esspecially kittens for free to whoever replies. Of course the animals are usually less than 8 weeks old and have never seen a vet or had any shots. |

| People are cruel to animals, I see it often. We were at the cemetery visiting our son's grave when a car pulled down the drive and then left, we heard noises and went to see what it was, a box that contained two little kittens. Thank goodness we met up with the caretaker and the old guy decided he would take them in. We have horses and a barn, people would drop off the cats and or kittens in it. I had a kitten that was so flea infested the only way to clean her up was I shaved her, I can't have fleas in the barn, our Friesian has long hair and if she gets them I don't know what I would do. We need more media coverage on the do's and don't to help educate the public, it should start with the younger kids, and maybe just maybe some good will come from it. Vets could offer low cost spay and neuter programs that also would help. |
