| Alternative to Taping Ears????? I just finished removing the tape off both of my puppies ears today. They were taped up for 5 days using the method where masking tape is wrapped in a circle around each ear individually and then a bridge of masking tape is used between the two ears to keep them erect. I shaved the hair off the front and back of ears as mentioned in other posts. Anyway, upon removing the tape, my puppies screamed and cried and it just broke my heart...I could hardly get the tape off....I thought I'm going to have to go to the vet and pay $70 for them to remove this d*** tape that I put on myself!!! What will my husband say about that?? LOL. I finally had the nerve to finish taking it off of them, and the ears of both of them are now drooping after only a few hours. I don't think I can bare to tape them again, but really want their ears to stand up, does anyone have any other ideas to get their ears to stand? By the way, I tried massaging, but don't know exactly how or where to do it. Or is there a better tape to use that will come off easier? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

| My baby had her ears taped the same way by the breeder. When I took that tape off, I regretted ever asking the breeder to tape them! It was just awful!!! Esme was crying and cringing... I had to cut some hair off because I just couldn't bear to keep trying to get the hair out. I told myself that if they didn't stand, I was never going to do that to her again. Luckily. they stood, but if they hadn't I would have just let it be. Good luck and I am sorry I don't have any other ideas!

| I had to tape Lily's ears up twice. The second time I made sure she wasn't freshly bathed. A little oil on the hair helps the tape come off easier. The 2nd time I also used blue painters tape. It doesn't seem to be so sticky. It just came off without any problem and we have beautiful ears!

| Some swear by massaging the ears, I've tried that for weeks now and it hasn't helped. I taped Bailey's ears once for 3 days, took the tape off, they stood for like a day and the dropped again. So I'm taping them up as we speak and they'll stay taped for another 3 days and lets hope it works this time |

| taping the ears I had to tape my pups ears 4 different times before they finally stayed up. I used masking tape, left it on for 5 days and then would get it damp about 10 minutes before I would start to remove it- that seemed to take some of the stickiness out of it. I also give my pups about a teaspoon of yogurt everyday for added calcium while they are growing and teething. I don't know if that helps or not- but both of their ears are standing straight up now at 14 weeks. |

| I taped Tia's ears once and after a little while she had managed to pull out the tape (I probably didn't do a very good job) -- so I resorted to massaging and keeping the tips shaved. So far, one ear is up (most of the time) -- I've decided to let nature take it's course while I continue to massage (which she LOVES!!!) and keep them trimmed. If she stays with one ear up, I'll be thrilled, it really is adorable!
