To all of you out there. I have been corrisponding with this person all night. I did receive a pic of the pup. He is quite handsome. The only problem that I have is that they want me to send payment through paypal. I do not mind but they asked for my phone number and said that when payment was confirmed they would call and tell me that they received the money. Then they would call again when they get off work so I can pick up the pup. I did some research and the email address they gave me is a fancy realestate agency in NY with high priced properties. Everything looks on the up and up. The only thing I can not understand is why they are so intent on me picking him up in the city. I told them I am from PA and would drive to NJ where they are from, I even said I don't need to come to your home just meet me someplace close. They never reply to that. There was no form to fill out and the person seems really nice. I just do not want to have to drive into the city. I do not like driving in heavy traffic situations. What do you all think. Is paypal safe or do scammers use that too. I need help making a decision. It's not the $60 I am worried about it is what if I drive all that way and stand around in NY by myself and no one shows up with the pup. I am a little scared of NY city. I have heard so many horror stories. The only time I went to the city was on a bus trip. I really want this pup, but yet I do not want to be dissapointed either. Thanks meeshue

yes, scammers use paypal to, but not often. Can anyone go with you to the city. How come you just can't pay for the puppy when you pick it up??

The ads look really similar to ads that I've responded to, and all of them turned out to be scams, so be really careful. Most of mine said they were missionaries living in Africa, but there was one from New York and one from Indiana also (at least, that's where they said they were from). The one from New York kept asking me for information about myself, saying that they are never in a hurry to find homes because they want to make sure the puppy goes to a good home. They kept telling me to send the money through Paypal or Western Union, but I decided against it because I didn't want to take the chance. Then, I answered another ad on another site, and I got a response from this same person in New York. It was on terrificpets.com and that site sends you an email to notify you of a possible scam. I got the email saying this one in New York was possibly a scam, so I stopped corresponding with them. I wish I could remember the email addy, but it was a couple weeks ago, and I didn't save it. I might remember it if I saw it again though.

I do hope that if you decide to go through with getting the puppy from them that it's not a scam. That's so heartbreaking!

Like I said I am not worried about $60, as my 17 year old son said, MOM IF IT WAS A SCAM WOULDN'T THEY WANT MORE MONEY! I guess my husband can go with me. He has his own business out in NY. The only problem with that is, is if he takes the day off and no dog shows up he will be p..... you know what I mean. He does new construction plumbing and heating and he is on a deadline. When he takes on a job it is in writing that is has to be completed on a certain date or he gets fined. I am worried that if it is a scam and no one shows up he will be extremely mad at me. What to do! What to do! I am waiting now for an email from this person about picking up the pup in Jersey. I will let you all know how it goes! Thanks for helping! meeshue

Girl, I just read your first post and that sounds like a SCAM straight up. Nobody, talks like that when they are selling a dog. And scammers only ask for a little money because they know they can get it. Imagine how many other people they talk to and tell them to just send $60. Multiply that by 100 people they got 6,000 that easy. So yes scammers ask for as little money as possible because they know people don't question a little bit of money and just send it. All I can say is good luck

By the way how much are they asking for the puppy???

Scammers often don't ask for alot of money because, that way, they might have an easier time getting it. If they have alot of people answering that ad and paying $60, it can add up to quite a bit of money.

Also keep in mind that some of these scammers will ask for money upfront, then something will come up and they will tell you they have to postpone meeting (or shipping the dog), then they will think of another "fee" or "expense", and so on, and so on.

Are you able to look at this person's IP address from their email? Did you give them personal info, like SS#, etc.? Just be really careful. I know you really want a puppy, but I really think this one is a scam. I almost got taken in by one of these too, and it's sooooo hard! I was depressed for days!!

Good luck to you in whatever you decide to do.

I do think that's the same one. I definitely remember the nyc.rr.com

The person I dealt with seemed to want to get it over with fast too, but at the same time, they were saying "we're never in a hurry to give these pups out". I think they were asking $350-$450 for pups. What are they selling them to you for, if it's ok to ask.

They are asking $60 for the pup. I just got an email from them about meeting the in NJ and they said very rudely mind you, I am not letting anyone come to my home or even close. I think I am going to stay away from this one. It just seems to be that they want to get me into the city to pic up the pup. What is the big deal about meeting them in NJ. Anyone that is serious about getting there pup a good home would work with someone that is really interested in giving the pup a good home. The more I talk to this person the more I think maybe not. meeshue

Wow what a predicament you are in. Personally I would not go for it. Seems to good to be true. I don't understand why you have to pay first. I mean she can insist on cash at pick up. Why do you even need pay pal? Set a time and place to meet and pay at the exchange!! I can understand her not wanting to accept a check, BUT cash Be careful!! Don't get yourself in trouble with the hubby and end up losing more than 60 bucks when he gets behind on his contracts. Good Luck!!

$60 total for the pup??? No way!!! If it sounds too good to be true, that it is and that sounds way too good to be true!

The people I dealt with would also get a little rude if I would suggest something else to get the puppy. I started to realize something wasn't right, so I told them to never mind. Then, when I answered the ad on terrificpets.com, it was the same person. I received a warning email (from terrific pets) to let me know that their email was a possible scam. When I asked them about that, they said something like "you have to learn there are good people and bad people in the world, do you want the puppy or not?"

There's soooooooooo many scammers out there, it makes me sick.

You know what all of us should get together and start a thread with all scammers e-mail addresses on it. I think I'm going to go start one right now
