| Cries The new puppy cries most of the time that he is in the kitchen, he won't play with any of the toys in there or lay on his bed. He just stands near the gate and cries. Is there anything I can do to calm him or help him so he relaxes some? |

| Have you seen those beds that have a dog on it and it puts out a sound that sounds like the mothers heartbeat. Maybe something like that would help you. Someone posted that they had one of these the other day.

| Comfort Pup Dog Nest with Heartbeat I ordered one of these beds. It is called the Comfort Pup Dog Nest with Heartbeat. It runs on AAA batteries. I have not yet used it. Here is the link where I got it from: http://www.pet-expo.com/cgi-bin/sear...BP=1&RCAT=100. Once you get to the page, there is a search bar on top. Just type in comfort pup. The bed is a few items down on the results page. |

| Since I got my puppy at 8 weeks, he has successfully (without complaining) stayed penned in the kitchen/laundry room area while I go to work (four 6-hour days a week). He has never known any different. However, when I'm home, he be crying and throwing a fit in less than one minute if I penned him in the kitchen. When I'm home, I slap a belly band on him and let him have run of the house.... which he loves of course. He's 10 months old now - and, strangely he almost never wet in the kitchen while I'm gone --sometimes 7 hours. But he will pee when he has run of the house. But, with age, even this has become much less - and almost never if I get him outside every two or three hours. I notice also that (while wearing a belling band), he almost never wets during the night anymore - as long as 8 or 9 hours. So - he's coming along. BUT - again. if I penned him up while I was home, he would be crying his head off. And - 80% of the time when I'm home, he just follows me around the house and settles down beside me wherever I am and naps by my feet. He does get outside four or five times a day for half an hour or so - and plays and runs his little legs off visiting with everyone. Good luck. I have no clue how you can keep your little pup from crying while being penned up when you're home. He obviously hates it and wants to be with you. Carol Jean |

I'm not sure how others are able to keep their pup penned up while they are home. I'm not having much luck with that. | |

| There is one in the Jeffers Pet catalog, it's really cute for only $16.95. If the link below doesn't get you there for some reason, just go to Jeffers Pet and in the search bar type: Comfort Pup and it will come up. Hope that helps. http://www.jefferspet.com/ssc/produc...VV1JDVXAD345P7

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I was lucky with Cali, I bought her a dog play pen so one end zips open so I can leave it open when I am home and zip it when I am gone. I but her bedding at one end and her pee pad at the other and have from the day i got her at 9 weeks. She loves her playpen and goes in there to nap and if she sees me getting ready to go out she goes in their for me to zip up. This is the first dog I have ever crated and it worked out well. But I think 2 things helped, one the Breeder kept her in a playpen so she was use to it and I have another dog who lays by her playpen. Also,I have always kept the playpen in my bedroom and she is never alone for more than 2 hours. I do think they get use to it if you just persevere which ca be hard to do. Good luck.

I recommend the comfort pup beds. I should have them on my website soon. They have a heartbeat noise inside them and this comforts young puppies or dogs with anxiety problems. Its supposed to feel like there mom's heartbeat. The company that makes those beds also makes comfort toys that have the same heartbeat too. I think these products are awesome and I wish I had known about them when Chloe was a puppy.
