| Easy, pain free Tick removal I just received an email from a friend who lives in an area that has lots of ticks. She swears by this method of tick removal and says that it works like a charm. Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on it's own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. Thankfully we don't have alot of ticks here where I live...as a matter of fact I've never even laid eyes on one. It's good to know how to easiliy remove them, though, if ever I do find one. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | A great suggestion! Ticks breathe through their skins since their heads are burried in their host. One method that I've always done in past years is to apply vasoline with a q-tip and swab the tick until the tick pulls it's head out. Had a student at school this year who had a tick on his head and our school nurse (bless her heart) had never dealt with ticks on students and was getting sick at the thought...I had to come to the rescue! LOL!

| Great Info. Thanks for sharing. Even though I use advantage on all my dogs I did find one tick on my Sophie. It was stuck to the inside corner of her eye. I'm guessing the soap thing would not be a good idea there. I used some tweezers and gripped it as close to the head as possible and then pulled gently until it let go. I guess it had not been there long because it came right off, head and all. That is the important part. You want to make sure you get it off whole. I will try the soap if I ever find anymore. We do not usually see alot where I live in Michigan. They probably don't like freezing their butts off in the winter!! |

| I got this email as well. Katy had been out playing at my daughters house and got a couple of seed ticks so I thought that I would try it. It didn't work like the email says. It took longer and I still had to work at them with the tweezers and the cotton ball. |

| I've not seen too many ticks here, but mine could always get them somewhere else. Thank you so much for the tips.

| Aw, man! This is info I could have used when my husband came back from the deer lease this weekend (work weekend). They were working on clearing brush and stuff - spent the whole weekend traipsing around in the woods where the ticks are awful! He had a couple that he couldn't reach and this would have been a lot easier. I'll definitely file this info in my head for future use!

| Great info! We have Jaxon on Advantix but we've still found a couple ticks on him - fortunately not buried like the ones we found BEFORE starting Advantix. Those little suckers are hard to remove.

| Good post! I found one on Ginger Saturday and didn’t know what to do. I remembered hearing something about burning them (?) so I used a heated butter knife and very carefully burned him ‘til he came out. <So gross> This would have been much easier and less nerve racking.
