| What should I do? I've had my puppy, Hootie, now for 4 weeks. Since we got her, when we leave the house we put her in a wire crate in our room with the door shut so our older yorkie, Hobbs, cannot get to her. Hobbs is fully potty trained and has full run of the house. Hootie generally does not mind her crate. When she falls asleep on the couch we put her in there so we don't have to watch her; when we have company we put her in there; etc. In most cases, she does not whine or bark when we put her in there. But, since the very first day we got her, she whines and barks SO bad when we put her in there in the mornings when we leave to go to work. When we get home, her crate it usually torn up and she is STILL crying! She is crying so bad when we get home that it seems like she never stopped crying So, my question is, do you think it would help her to bring to crate out into the living area where Hobbs stays? Will she cry and whine worse bc she sees Hobbs out? Or will it console her just to see Hobbs? Any suggestions would be appreciated! |

| When I got my second pup, JPop was about 1 1/2 yrs. I tried an expen with Taz, but the little stinker would tear up the pee pad and spill his water and food and just make a big mess. So then I used the expen to barracade the kitchen. He stayed there and JPop stayed in the living room. They could see each other, and just seemed to work better. Guess Taz just wanted more room than he got from the expen. He was also so much easier to potty train, cause he watched JPop and wanted to do everything his big brother did. |

I baracade the kitchen with an ex-pen also. I think it will help to just give her more space. And if both dogs get along, then there is no reason why they can't both be put in the kitchen. She probably wants to paly and can't do anything in the crate, and she has just spent all night in there. I'd protest too.

I really don't want to put her in my kitchen. I paid a lot of money for this nice size wire crate and I don't want to have to go out and buy a baby gate now. The crate is serving the same purpose as putting her in the kitchen would....it is a nice size so she has her bed in there, a pee pad, and her food and water and some toys. So, do you think it would make her more comfortable to put her crate in the living room with Hobbs, or should I leave her in our bedroom so she can't see Hobbs?

| I would put her in with Hobbs and see if that helps. That is really good that that is the only time she whines. When I used to put Jewels in her crate she would whine untill she saw me lay down to go to sleep
