Where Pet Store Dogs come from...This is NOT graphic !

There was a lady that when to the local mall and stop bye the pet store, she was looking for a female the saleman told her he had one in the back that was sick BUT she could still buy her, she did not! this made me so angry I wanted to go to the mall and demand that store be closed because these little guys nobody knows where they come from this just make me pissed off. And another thing around here where I live when people don't want there dogs they tied them to trees on side of the road or to signs or just let out. THIS really pisses me off!!!! I stop once at a hugh box on the side of the road it was full of puppy and a big plater of dog food. I call the cops ever time I see this, This is uncalled for in this nation. Got to stop my blood is boling.

Villette, don't apoligize or be afraid of annoying someone(who cares!). Every time you speak of this it helps to get the word out. Pet mills need to be shut down...there ought to be a law! I just wish there were more ways to educate the public..so many don't even know what pet mills are. I always tell people if they want a dog, go to a reputable breeder...it's so much cheaper in the long run. It may be more expensive initially but may save thousands of dollars trying to care for a dog from a puppy mill that is physically and emotionaly sick. And of course there is no price on the heart break of losing a furbaby. Thank you so much, Villette...please don't ever stop until these mills are shut down.

it's horrible and the pictures will make you cry - BUT this is what Millions of dogs live like EVERY DAY. The puppies get brokered and loaded onto Big 18 wheeler trucks - shipped cross country to Pet Stores - Evil Petland is the biggest customer of Puppy Mills/Hunte Corp.

I don't want to make you sad - but the more people that get outraged - the better for the dogs in the long run.....Tell ALL your friends about this and thank you for sharing....When I first learned about Mills - I think I was crying on and off for a week - I had NO idea either.

and Thanks Cindy....I always appreciate your comments - I really do talk about it with people and write letters still - one day someone will have the power to stop the Cruelty to animals America is responsible for. Every State needs to take charge of their laws and end this awful business.

After I read your first post I went to the PET store here just to ask a few questions. I talked to the owner and I asked him where he gets his puppies from and he said that he and his brothers breed 2 breeds each at a kennel. He has a lot of different breeds and he invited me to come to their facilities. I was feeling alright about him because the way he explained it was that he was running a family owned business and the reason why they went into this business was to stop people from purchasing puppies from places that get their pets from puppymills. As I was leaving, a small voice whispered in my ear and said...Go and LOOK at the puppies he had for sale. So I did and when I went to the back where the puppies were.....It was HORRIBLE. Not nearly as horrible as the video, but there was feces in the glass cages that they were in and they just didn't look like they were being kept up. I then went back to him and I told him Point Blank that I was going to write my congressman. I am on a first name basis with our mayor, so maybe I should start with him. After seeing that video, anyone in their right minds would do any and everything they could to stop this insanity.

I had no idea this was what a puppy mill looks like until I saw that clip. I thought a puppy mill was way smaller and didn't have as much dogs and puppies. This is very cruel and harsh. That is why I will never step foot in a pet store.

I did the same thing and clicked and saw another video. It was a racoon being skinned alive. I couldn't believe it. I had to click off after I saw it's eyes looking at the camera. It made me sick to my stomach. Please, for those of you who have a weak stomach or any kind of sensitivity, please don't watch any other videoes. I don't understand how people can do this, this is just absolutely sick!!!!

That was the same one i seen and also they were skinning dogs alive too i got so sick i still feel sick!!

People wake up while their are horrible puppy mills there are just as bad show kennels and private breeding kennels. Our problem no monitoring of mills and kennels to assure for the health and welfare of animals so when you purchase demand to see parents if pets are not healthy call your local shelter

Also these puppy mills contribute to the over population of dogs. I just wish every city would have free spay/neuter clinics available. I pass by my local animal shelter on my way to work and I often see the smoke coming from the incinerator....it's all those poor little unwanted, unloved little lives going up in smoke. It makes me sick, sick, sick! Sorry, I get so upset about this subject.

Could we go further than the press and other media? Write to the government? If they get enough pressure maybe they will release a law?

What about campaigns against it with marches? As you said - this is America!

in the uk you cant sell puppys in shops anymore thankgod. there are still people who run puppy mills though, well untill the rspca catches them and closes them down, the sad thing is the price of dogs is going up so much people think they can make a lot of easy money by selling pups or people cant afford a pup from a proper breeder so go and get a cheaper one from an ad in the paper, its such a shame and something more should be done about it it should be that if you breed dogs you have to have a form signed by something like the rspca with a number for each pup to say you are a fit breeder and a copy of that should have to be given to the new owners who should then have to put the dog on a register and give the number to a vet when they register the pup with them so if a pup hasnt got a form or number the vet can report them and the breeders closed down if need be,thats the only way to stop these horrible people.

You are exactly right!! Until our laws are changed, this is unfortunately going to continue. I do think it helps to get the word out to the general public, but we need to have our pathetic laws changed. In Ohio, as long as you feed/water an animal every 15-20hrs, you ar legal and there is nothing they can do about it. First of all, that makes me sick, and 2nd of all, how do you prove it? The numerous calls I have made to the authorities have not seemed to make a difference I get very frustrated but I am going to keep trying- we ALL have to keep trying, and maybe eventually we will see changes happen!!! The important thing is to NEVER give up!!
