| Georgie is obsessed.... With sniffing other dogs and I mean obsessed to the point where it irritates the other dogs. A normally calm nice dog got irritated with him on Sunday because he kept trying to sniff his private area. Does anyone elses Yorkie do this? We have a new neighbor who has a dog that is really nice, but she can only take so much of Georgie sniffing. Is there anything that I can do to get him to stop doing this? I want to stress how much he sniffs I have never seen another dog do this. If the dog is bigger he will get up on his hinds legs to sniff. He does this will male and females dog I know dogs sniff each other to get acquainted but I am more worried about his safety, because other dogs get so irritated with him.

| LMAO...I'm sorry I know this probably isn't funny but the idea of Georgie on his hind legs sniffing a big dogs pee pee is too hilarious Coco lets everyone sniff her privates happily. Maybe you should bring Georgie over to our house..lol..he'll have a blast

| Yea it is a funny site to see. I just don't know what to do, we always joke about how much of a perv he is. I keep thinking I have the smallest dog of them all and he just can't leave the other dogs alone Even when we say something he stops and 2 seconds later he is back at it again

| Maybe do what the woman from Nanny 911 does..not kidding...give a warning and when he doesn't listen, put him on a time out. Eventually he will stop when you warn him, and maybe even stop all together. It usually works for Coco. When I give a warning, now she stops dead in her tracks because she knows the next step is a time out.

| Is Georgie neutered? The reason I ask is because reading your thread made me feel nostalgic. TeeJay did the EXACT same thing! I did everything I could to stop him but he just wouldnt listen. However, after I had him neutered, he's stopped that type of behavior completely. Now it's the other way around, all the dogs are trying to sniff his privates and he's the one that gets annoyed! |

No he is not neutered so that might be the problem. I need to get up the courage to take him to have it done, but if that is the reason why he sniffs he will be at the vet tomorrow to be neutered.

I'm not an expert, but I think one reason why Georgie is sniffing other's privates is because of territorial and dominance instincts. Those characteristics are due to his hormones (testosterone). Most of his hormones are produced in his testicles so getting him neutered can alleviate alot of unwanted behavior ie; marking his territory, humping, etc. I'm not sure if neutering is associated with sniffing privates but TeeJay completely stopped that behavior after being neutered. The best thing I would suggest is to talk to your vet. He/she would be more informative than I ever could be on this subject. Hope this helps. | |

| I needed to take him and get him neutered anyways so I made an appointment for June 27th. His Daddy will have to take him and drop him off though it will break my heart if I do (He is such a Momma's boy).
