Question Anyone argue with your S.O. over your yorkie?

As I've noticed, everyone here loves their little yorkies. And I've also noticed that most of the members here are women. So I'm just wondering how many of your S.O.'s feel the way you do, about your yorkie(s)? And if they don't, have you ever argued about your yorkie with them?

My fiance doesn't feel the same about Bailey as I do. And that really sucks. He's a 'big dog' kinda guy & adores our ddb, but barely pays attention to Bailey. And I always feel like I'm bothering him if I want to show him some pictures I've taken of him, ect. When he does decide to pay attention to Bailey, he plays too rough with him and I always have to get after him about being more gentle. And it's like pulling teeth to get him to buy something for him (like clothing, toys, ect) Anyone else have this problem? And how do you handle it?

Its the same story here! Joe (my fiance) is also a big dog person and he plays very rough with Lucy. I always worry he is going to hurt her. It is strange though because she adores him and goes crazy when he comes over. At the moment I am trying to convince him we need a yorkie when we move in together as we both live at home and Lucy would stay when I move out as she is the family dog, but he is having none of it! Now do I live without yorkie or dump him??!!

Well, you know Summer....I haven't even purchased let alone found breeder yet...and just about everyone who knows me including my SO, is sick of me talking about Yorkies.... If I am on this site, or other sites catering to Yorkies and I go to show someone....They say, I know you're not about to show me anymore of those damn dogs( did I ever tell you all that they are my obsession)....They will all be very happy when I get one, they think it will ease up. HeHe, they just don't know!!!

Well Michael gave me Sydnee has a Christmas gift however, I didn't get her until Valentine's Day because she was born Dec. 16th 2004.

At the time we were engaged needless to say he more or less said it was him or the dog. Now; how was I suppose to give up Sydnee and he gave her to me with my ring? Well her papers and the ring came together. It was my engagement persent.

We broke up the end of February this year and it hurts but why give someone such a lovely gift and then act like that. He didn't ask me to get rid of Tahni my big dog, he played with her, just like the rest of your S/O s did.

My Hubby is the same way. Whenever I talk about our dog or Yorkies he kinda just rolls his eyes like I am boring him. The other night we went out for dinner and I started to talk about yorkies and he said can't we have one conversation without a dog being involved. Thats why it is so nice to have these forums.

Off-topic but I want to thank you for joining Chick-Chat it is great to have you!

My husband loves Molly and likes to play with her and hold her, but when I talk about buying clothes and carriers and stuff, he thinks that is too over the top. Like, the other day, I took her to pick up my little girl at her little 3 yr. old pre school thing and I told Mitch I had to get a car seat for Molly. Well, he kind of flipped because he said I didn't need to be taking her places like that anyway. Someone was teasing him one day about me putting bows in her hair and he was like "I better not come home and find bows in that dog's head!" However, I MAY have talked him in to getting her a couple of t-shirts because she really does get cold, especially after her bath and we like to keep our house kind of cool, especially in the summer.

So, although he really loves her, there is a fine line between treating her like the baby I want her to be and the dog he thinks she is. That is why I haven't joined the Gift Exchange, because I knew he would have a fit! Plus, I was afraid my little girl wouldn't understand why Molly was getting presents in the mail and she didn't.

I am pretty lucky because my hubby loves our little Louie. It's the most ridiculous thing watching him baby talk to Louie-but I love it, this grown man with a husky voice trying to baby talk...very comical but it melts my heart. He is not a fan of big dogs, he just can't deal with all the hair and when they get stinky, etc... He just likes to "chill" with our little Louie on his lap!

Sebastian was my anniversary present from my hubby and he LOVES him, he won't admit it to friends or family but when he gets home from work he greets Sebastian as he does the rest of us :-) He plays with him alot and they usually snuggle on the couch together and fall asleep. He does think it's crazy that I want to buy him clothes but he is one of those type of men that is like whatever makes you happy dear. I guess I am very fortunate also.

Summer, I am sorry to hear your S.O. doesn't think Baily is as irresistible as as you do.. I dont have that prob with my husband but I do with other dog owners I have met on my walks, I noticed lots of big dog owners look down on the little ones. Hopefully he will change his tune, who knows maybe deep down he is in love with little Bailey but he is trying to be macho? lol.. good luck, Bailey is too darn cute, I am sure he will grow on him and your S.O. will be cuddeling him soon enough

My husband is crazy in love with our yorkies. Chachi was supposed to be my dog but my husband won his heart. He plays with them both. They both run to meet him when he comes in. He loves the little sweaters and shirts I put on Chachi.

When we first started on our quest 2 years ago looking for a family pet my husband said no to a small dog. LOL he told me "sue I am not walking a tiny dog when I am 6' 6"." So we ended up with xaro our shepherd whom I wouldnt trade for the world but my husband knew I have always wanted a yorkie so looks like I got my way again lol. He always makes fun of me for being on yt. He already knows his place in bed is in danger once i bring my lil girl home.

Maybe it's a MALE thing? Argh!

It was my husband's choice to get a yorkie. I begged for a dog, and when he finally gave in, he said he got to choose the breed. I discussed with him the yorkie vs. maltese debate — but in the end, we BOTH decided on a yorkie!

However — my husband likes to treat our yorkie like a kid, tossing him in the air and talking high-pitched babble to him. Sully's ears go back and he runs to me, not understanding that his "daddy" was just trying to play and have fun.

I have repeatedly told Eli (my husband) that "Treat others as you would want to be treated" includes the dog. We should treat him in a manner that he understands we're trying to play. I try to communicate to Sully in a way that he understands and feels more loved (and more human, haha.)

Eli totally means well, but he annoys both Sully and me! Could it be a man thing?
