| Maybe it's a MALE thing? Argh! It was my husband's choice to get a yorkie. I begged for a dog, and when he finally gave in, he said he got to choose the breed. I discussed with him the yorkie vs. maltese debate — but in the end, we BOTH decided on a yorkie!
However — my husband likes to treat our yorkie like a kid, tossing him in the air and talking high-pitched babble to him. Sully's ears go back and he runs to me, not understanding that his "daddy" was just trying to play and have fun.
I have repeatedly told Eli (my husband) that "Treat others as you would want to be treated" includes the dog. We should treat him in a manner that he understands we're trying to play. I try to communicate to Sully in a way that he understands and feels more loved (and more human, haha.)
Eli totally means well, but he annoys both Sully and me! Could it be a man thing? |
