| Im SOOOOO Mad Well I took Adina to her first vet visit the day after I got her, WELL they found she had an ear infection, hook and roundworms, and yesterday she started coughing. She is on meds for kennel cough. I just brought her home Sunday. I called the breeder and he said he hadn't heard her cough and that she was wormed. He told me that maybe my vet was trying to make an extra buck by telling me she had those things, but sure enough she pooped huge worms today and the funny smell near her ears is going away. i am so mad I paid $1150.00 for her so I expected a really healthy pup. But as always we fall in love with our fur babies and there is no way she is going back there. Its been 2 days of ear cleaning and they aren't clean yet. My poor baby. |

| Sorry Adian is not well. All she has can be treated and she will be feeling better soon. It would tick me off too. I would send the breeder a certified letter with all the bills from the vet and tell them you want to be reimbursed for the vet bills. A good breeder would want to make it right with you. I know on there contracts sometimes they say if the puppy is not healthy they will give you another one. I think they kown we fall in love with our babies and would not trade them in. If your puppy is sick most likely it's litter mates are to. Adian is lucky you got her and now she can be smothers with love and be taken care. I would turn the breeder into the ASPC and BBB........Cindy |

| I agree with Maddie, send that breeder the bills, I take it it's not an AKC breeder and if it was report him. That's horrible, such a beautiful puppy too, don't worry she will be feeling better in no time.

| Yes, that's horrible Adina didn't come to you properly healthy. Take pictures and document everything. You can take it to small claims court if it gets that far. But yes, take it slow, watch Adina closely and do what the vet says, and never listen to that breeder ever again! |

| I am really mad I am sure they treated her bad. Everytime I go near her she goes down and pees a lil. I hope that with our love that will be over with. Ok a lil off topic but is it normal for a yorkie to tear a lot? I have chihuahuas and they dont tear as much as Adina and my chihuahuas have huge eyes lol. I will attach a pic of her I took just yesterday. She has really thin and very lil hair (is that normal too?) |

| Yes, Yorkies tear a lot! Be sure to wipe the tears away, as the tears can 'eat' away at the hair around their eyes and nose area. We wipe it at least twice a day. Also, we use a fine comb to comb away eye boogers from the wet eye area. I'm not quite sure if very little heair is normal or not, most Yorkies have a good coat, but it depends on their lineage of course. |

| The fur under my Julie's eyes is always wet she really tears a lot, but the worse part of it is that in turns into this clumpy brown stuff. It's kinda nasty but it is natural according to her vet, you just have to clean it on a daily basis with a wet cotton ball so it won't stain the coat. As far as the coat it seems normal to me, but I'm no expert, sorry.......

| FastEddie it's funny that you mentioned eating away at their fur, because a couple of days ago I noticed a reduction of hair around one of Julie's eyes. Here I thought maybe I was making her top knot too tight, although I couldn't see how, that interesting......I guess I have to be more consistent with the cleaning.

| Yeah, we learned that too on our own. A comb works great, along with dabbing the area with a wet towel. |

| I really hope little Adina is well soon and naturally I agree with the others - send the breeder those bills!! How old is Adina? Your main worry is probably the kennel cough which can be quite nasty but at least you have sought early treatment for her. When she cowers maybe it is just due to lack of socialising 'cos I can't see that she would have had much attention in the way of handling etc - probably hasn't had much experience of people at all. SO glad she's with you and now has a good home, hope that's the case with her siblings too. Let us know how she progresses. My Gypsy Rose welcomes her and sends her many hugs!! Ana xxx |

| Thanks for the kind words. I made another appoinment with my vet today, I am just so worried about her she coughs a lot when she starts to eat. I called the breeder and he said she didn't cough from his house all the way to were he dropped her off with me. My dogs are healthy and I have vet records to back that up. the only problem is that I have no written contract nor prove of the amount I paid since I paid cash. So small courts would do me no good so I was told. |

| AAAAaaarrrrrrgggghhhhh......it makes me so MAD that there are bad breeders out there!!!! However, as others have said, good loving care should make her well. And the loving part should make her happy. It won't take long.....just snuggle with her lots and talk to her softly.....and reassure her. She won't cower for long....Our little Yorkies are soooo responsive to love! I would still mail copies of the bills to the breeder. Make sure to date EVERYTHING. While I'm no lawyer, there is such a thing as a valid verbal contract. As a "consumer", when you pay $1150.00 for a puppy that is represented to be healthy, I would think you have some recourse in small claims court. I would certainly ask. ESPECIALLY since you took her to the vet within the first 24 hours of getting her. My son's tiny Chihuahua had kennel cough when they got her from a pet store and the store paid the vet's bills. It took almost TEN MONTHS for the cough to go away, though, so be patient and diligent about meds and care. About thin coat: My Higgins has a rather thin coat. And we keep him in a short puppy cut. Since we don't plan to show or breed him, it's fine with us......less to tangle! His started off really cottony, but since his first haircut, it has grown in nice and silky! Not thick, but a nice shiny smooth coat. They change! |

| Adian is a cutie. The change so fast. Did you see her parents. Sometimes you can get an ideal on how they will look. That breeder probably has a kennel full of dogs with kennel cough. I wouldn't drop it. I would spread the word to everyone what type of breeder he is. When she gets well take her to Petmart and when people come and tell you how cute she is spread the word about the breeder. Word of mouth is good. Hope she is better soon.........Cindy Let me know who it is and if they have a web site I live in Texas and will share your story with other Yorkie owners You can PM me. |
