No matter large or small, yorkies are the cutest of all

Wildchatt 04-19-2009 04:26 PM

My Yorkie Milagra was starved when she was rescued a year ago - and now she weighs in @ 15.8 pounds! Biggest damn Yorkie I've EVER had! (You can see a video of her in the Yorkie vids thread).

My almost 9 month old male is probably 11 lbs. by now, and a YT friend, ILoveBingoo has a 19 lb'r... :) Yes, we are the proud owners of mutant Yorkies, the equivalent of holding a small toddler in your arms. I love them all equally. It's that much more to love... Can you send me the link to your video? I would love to see Milagra. My boy is on my page, but those are photos from his arrival at 6 months. He was an underweight rescue. Lisa, Lilly & Jesse

Hi, welcome to the club of Big Boys! My harley was no bigger than a soda can when I got him with AKC papers at 10 weeks. He is eight years old now, still has all his teeth, runs & plays with his fursibling of 1 year old and keeps up with him! Harley weighs a whopping 16.2 lbs. He has been on Weight Management Beneful dry food since he was 2 yrs old! I've been on weight management food for thirty years, it hasn't done me much good either!LOL He is the best dog I've ever had, he has thick wavy hair Gold/Blue marked perfectly. He is big & beautiful and has never had a reason to visit the vet except his shots/neuter & regular check ups. Go figure!

hugz4all4 06-02-2009 10:55 AM

I guess I can consider Tucker (9 months old) a teapot, but not a mutant yorkie yet. lol. Last night he weighed in at 9 pounds!! He came from 4 pound parents..I honestly didnt think that he would weigh more than 5. He is very short, but sturdy, not fat. Anyways, they are all beautufil no matter how big or small they are. :)

MyBohoBaby 06-02-2009 11:17 AM

Back in the day (20 years ago) my mom breed and raised yorkies... she had a female 15lbs... Traditionally... yorkies are SUPPOSED to be over 10lbs... 20lbs. I was reading about the breed in my AKC book and they were rat fighters. But the breed has been breed to smaller sizes so that now they are 5 and 6 lbs. Im sure theres resesent genes... or however you say that. ROFL

Mutant Yorkies

My Benson weighed in at 15 lbs. at his last vet visit. She was thrilled. He had lost from 17 to 15. I didn't know I was feeding him too much. So I give 1/4 cup in the AM and another 14 in the PM.'

He has more personality than any dog I've ever had and loves to go walking and his rides in the car.

morningsuniowa 06-11-2009 06:02 AM

He is soooo cute! I know what you mean by no one thinking he is a true yorkie. My Amos is almost 8 months and 15 lbs. I had a DNA test through MARS online and the results state he is pure yorkie. He is our baby!

DNA Results

Just got Sully's DNA back. He's 85-90% Yorkshire Terrier and 10-15% West Highland White Terrier...

So I guess that makes him a:

A Yorkland Terrier?
A Westland Yorkie?

Trying to come up with some creative breed name...JUST don't call my baby a mutt...he's very sensitive.

The place where I got him got a hell of an earful....their response...."sometimes you just don't know who's jumping over the fence into the backyard".

He's a Workie! :p ... or maybe a Yestie? :D I can't believe the breeder's comment to you. If you are a breeder, I think it is your responsibilty to know who's jumpng over the fence -- or perhaps not leave females in heat outside at all. BTW, Your baby is adorable.

chandracz 06-17-2009 01:23 PM

So how big is he now?

Britster 06-17-2009 01:32 PM

Jackson's a semi-mutant! LOL. I weighed him last about, hmm... almost two months ago and he was really close to 14lbs. He might be 15lbs by now, or more. I'll have to weigh him again soon.

Rocco in VA 06-17-2009 01:47 PM

My sweet pea is 11lbs and I just love Yorkies, small, med and what I call "love bugs" the bigger guys & gals. My boyfriend has a Cane Corso (120lbs) so I'm glad my guy is not so tiny - but don't get me wrong, the lil ones are too cute!

I gave some thought to learning to breed dogs to sell giant-yorkies with long giraff necks because I think they are too-cool.

Well, like many people who get their first yorkie, I'm eager to share pics, so here's some images of the little tyrant! I've included 3 here all taken on the same day when he was roughly 6 months old. Edit: This is roughly two months ago, he's much bigger now, lol.

You can see his earlier size here next to my 6 foot wife. I'll take some other pics to show off his crazy long neck and general longness.

he's cute hope tp see pix of him standing:p i think he's a yorkie alright..juz on a big bundle of fur and love :D

He is just soo gorgeous. Ive been a yorkie lover for over 10 years now. I just got a brother and sister and the boy is huge for 4 months. I love him no matter what he can be mutant #2! :)

BellaRose08 06-19-2009 09:50 AM

What a handsome boy.

jasminr 06-19-2009 10:45 PM

OMG....................WOW what a cute, pretty, beautyful dog.........he is like a doble size of mine.... LOL, he is just....WOW, you know my dog looks just like him but perrito is 5 lb, anyway he is just too cute....you are so lucky to have him, to me, honestly he is absolutly perfect...again, TOOOOOO cute:)

postalmom1987 06-19-2009 11:32 PM

another great thread

These are the kinds of threads that keep me up waaaaaayyyy too late at night reading the "whole thing"!!! and making me giggle. But really. You guys with the larger Yorkies ALL have beautiful dogs. Yorkies everyone! But I tell you, I'm a little jealeous. My Krystal is only 3.6 pounds at 6 months and I keep hoping she'll grow alittle more. Is there any hope for her? Grow baby, Grow:D

mybabe88 06-20-2009 01:43 AM

reminds me of adream

aaawww he is cute! his coat looks really good too. this reminds me of a dream i had when i fell asleep on the couch... prince grew supersized (like a lab) and he was running after me and jumped on me and was licking my face. i woke up to him licking my face in real life......that little booger

p.s. screw people who tell you he isnt a yorkie. yorkies at one point were his size. we humans are the ones who bred them smaller and smaller..... everyone wanting the tiniest dog or a "teacup" is a fad neways

thats soooooooo interesting.... how much did it cost?

jnsasha 06-20-2009 04:20 AM

My Jake is 19lbs and everyone tells me he can't be a yorkie but he is. He even looks bigger because all my other yorkies are a lot smaller. We call him the big man. He is the healthest out of all my babies and I have to worry about him the least because he is so big. I too get him a puppy cut because long hair just doesn't suit him. Jake is pretty tough but he has a real sweet side to him and the best smile.:D

Wow! I didn't know they could give a percentage. Since Yorkies are a mix of several other breeds, how can they know for sure that the percentage isn't just inherant in him? That he is just pure Yorkie? I don't see how he could be less than 50-50 if his father isn't pure Yorkie. Sylvia

He was listed at $1,800, then after Christmas went down to $1,200, then $1,100.....then by the end of January 09 he was $999 I offered them $900 and they countered with $950.

love_alwayz17 06-25-2009 12:05 PM

O.o

Wow! and I thought my dog was big... he's only 10 lbs :p I'm glad to know there are other big(ger) yorkies out there!!

mjharpst 06-25-2009 12:31 PM

What a beautiful boy! I just love him!

Teaching Toto 07-01-2009 09:02 PM

Chewy is gorgeous. I have read though that yorkies may have started out being around 60 pds. The site I read this on said that people bred them to be smaller and smaller. I know you can't believe everything you read on the internet but it makes sense since yorkies were bred to hunt mice.

Weneebug 07-02-2009 06:41 AM

Wow, and I thought my Harley was a whopper at 11 pounds.

My Harley came from small parents too. His mom was 5 lbs and dad 4.5 lbs. I wasn't expecting him to get over 5 and now he is well over 11!
