I really enjoyed this post, all these big doggies are soooo freakin cute!!!! But I am still worried I will get in "trouble" this guy better not get up to 20 lbs!!! Ha Ha Ha :p |
He is adorable! My aunt actually has a AKC registered Yorkie that is turning 2yrs old this weekend and just had his yearly shots and weighed in at a whopping 20lbs. Maybe his name had something to do with him growing so large. (OXAN Ray Bailey) Oz for short!:D and we love him dearly just as much as we love our smaller yorkies! |
I wish I could have a 250lb yorkie to complement with my built when we walk. |

What a sweet sweet baby you have. He is adorable and I bet he is a good little snuggler too. My little 4.4lb baby takes up the majority of my queen size bed, so I bet your lil guy does that and then some. Yorkies are wonderful no matter what size they are.....they have so much love to give.:yorkiesar |
2 Attachment(s) LOL, this thread was started in 2005. Wonder what is going on with the original poster? I see he hasn't posted since last year. How big did the "mutant" get? :) Being owned by two mutant teapots, I love these threads. Bernie and Ginger weigh in at 17 and 13 lbs, and I wouldn't have them any other way! Your babies are all adorable! Keep the pics coming! |
I think he is adorable! Years ago yorkies were on the larger size. I think somewhere are the 20 lb mark. Maybe he is just taking after his great, great, great, great grandpa! |

Not mutant just a genetic throwback... I am really surprised that your vet was so skeptical. With the breeds that are thought to be involved in the lineage of the modern yorkie it is not unheard of for a dog or bitch to show up over the standard. Sasha is a hearty 7.5 lbs right now at 6 months. I don't think she is going to be much heavier but still the AKC standard says no more than 7 lbs. |

Mutant Yorkie. World's largest 1 Attachment(s) Never new yorkies got that big. I think they tend to be more healthy than the tiny ones. Tricksie is 19 months and 8 lbs. I love her size. |

I have a puppy that weighs 1.12 lbs at 5 weeks...something tells me she is going to be a big teapot also to come from a 7lb Mama..lol:) Just alot more to love on! |
chewy is one of the cutest dogs i have ever seen! i love him.. i love all these pics of big yorkies, i never knew they could get so big-they are still gorgeous. my teddy is probably close to 7 lbs.. |
Chewy is adorable! Gizmo, my first baby, is 5 yrs old now, and he's approx 15lbs! More for us to love! :D |
Everytime I see my Baxter fly off the couch, jump off the bed, and run down the stairs, I am thankful that he's a tough and sturdy 13 lbs. He's a bruiser for sure, but I never have to worry about him being too fragile or delicate for his terrier temperment. Teapots are the best! All the beauty and personality of a yorkie, with strong and sturdy bodies. |

My Jax is over 10 lbs and he is the sweetest and best dog ever ... there is no way he would be the same at 5 lbs ... he is just a teapot yorkie ... and we love see him in video section with baby Karsyn ... |
This says alot about this breed.....no matter what the size, they can hold their own....big or small they are so freakin adorable....I see a tiny and I think "oh my gosh I want one just like that," and then I see a teapot and I think "oh my gosh I want one just like that" Everyone should be proud of our little (or large) Yorkies....either way they are perfect! |

Awwww such a cute baby!!! My males name is Chewy also!:D |
2 Attachment(s) I think Chewy is gorgeous and I'm relieved to see there are other giant yorkies on yorkietalk! I pick my pup up next week and although she is tiny now her parents are on the larger side. I wanted a more robust yorkie as I have two other larger dogs and four children! They're all very good and gentle but we go on long walks on the marshes I want a pup that can keep up!!!:aimeeyork YORKIE MUM TO BE OF MIKA! 1 WEEK YO GO!!! |
what a cutie...no matter the size he is a yorkie...hehe...size can never be guarantee for one...and long long ago the breed was a lot bigger...so i wouldn't be surprise to see one that is big...my 7 lbs yorkie even gets comments like that can't be a yorkie...because she is too big...i am like ok whatever...believe what you hear and see on the media...i don't care...hehe |
3 Attachment(s) My yorkie Siu Pao is 10 pounds. Not too big, not too small just nice for me. He is pretty strong when he pulls during walks so 10lbs is great for me! Here are some pictures taken last weekend when we went to a friend's house for playtime. |
Big is beautiful at least in my eyes it is, as we've had some whoppers in our times, this is one reason we choose to have Tiffanie spayed due to throwing out a few larger puppies. I do have to say even tho our Tiffanie was a big gal she had the most beauiful shinnest coat you ever seen as an adult Yorkie. You can go to our web site to view photos of them..We had Tiffanie who was bigger, Sir. Lancelot and Bonnie, just click on the photo galleries and at the photo galleries page you can go to each of their own pages :) Lee |
Nice web site! I really enjoyed it a lot! Beautiful dogs and puppies1 Pat |
At 15 pounds, I've dubbed Ozzie a teahouse.:D It's so nice though to not have to worry about tiny little legs snapping or the hundreds of other probs I've seen with the REALLY little guys. But my buddy is dieting. We need to lose a few pounds. Just like his owner, aging is adding to the padding.:p So, we're working on it together! |
I want one!! I think "teapots" are SOOO adorable! I want a third one to be 10lbs at least! My friend has a 15 lbs yorkie and I'm totally in love with him. If ANY one knows where I can find larger boy, please let me know! kekeke.... Bentley is 7.5 lbs and Louie will be around 4.5lbs. Big medium and small!!! :D |
Wow, your boy sure is handsome! I would agree with above poster about the larger yorkies being common. There are lot where we live! People see mine (one 5.5 ) and think they're TINY - which I mean .. relatively. Yes, they are, but mom has an 11 lb'r, that she bred once .. and the strange thing is, the biggest puppy in that litter turned out to be 5 lbs! All 5 were 3.5-5 lbs. So strange. Anyway, cute boys!! |
awww.. i thought i was gonna see some like.. 30 pound yorkie or something.. your baby looks absolutely adorable.. |
my yorkie is 17.2 pounds but he is 4 years old. I'm interested to find out how big your yorkie will get! |
