He is sooooo adorable |
wow...he is so handsome!:D |
I have three Yorkies, all AKC - one is 12 lbs, one is 15 lbs, one is 17 lbs. They are healthy, eat a home made diet and the vet says they are perfect. Keep loving your furbaby T |
I like his coat the most. is it silky? his face is really cute, like a tedybear |
Your pup is beautiful! You have more to love :) Both my girls are around 11 lbs each, I wouldn't want them any smaller. (1 full yorkie, 1 mixed yorkie/doxie) |
1 Attachment(s) I brag about my Crockpot Teddy every chance I get. He now weights 17 lbs! I love him as much as my little fur babies. He is easier to play rough with as he is all muscle. |
Totally realize this thread is oh i dunno THREE YEARS OLD haha, but must say its awesome how much everyone loves their furbabies. teacup, teapot, small horse. Makes me proud to be a Yorkie owner. And i'm sure walker will join the mutant yorkie genre.:D |
lol I had the vet question my 6lb yorkie! I like that he is sturdy :) We are getting ready to get a smaller baby though, and I am so excited about her as well.... a nice sturdy dog, and a smaller lap baby :) Perfect! |
I remember reading somewhere that originally yorkies were larger between 10 and 20 pounds if I remember correctly. That makes sense as they would be used to keep vermin out. For those of you who have seen rats just imagine one next to the size of your babies. Heck I think some rats are probably bigger than my littlest yorkie. The older yorkies were bred to be sturdy, tenacious and loving dogs! We can still see that little tenacious attitude in our yorkies today. Big or small, a yorkie is a great dog to own.:animal-pa |
he is beautiful! My Tootie is 16.6 lbs now, and he is a super bundle of joy! He is so fun and just a happy little boy :) I have my baby girl and by big baby boy :) love them both! d |
My Chunk is 16.2 lbs. of pure love! He's a little rough and tough guy. He loves playing tug of war with his sis, Molly, a bassett hound. When he plays with his other sis, Gertie, a pom-chi, only 6 lbs. he usually flings her around. Chunk is only 19 mos old and at 9 mos he was diagnosed with retina degeneration. He's totally blind now but that does not hold him back. He's been a big blessing to our family. He's knows our home and trailer layout. We take them with us on all our adventures. Chunks mom A righteous man regards the life of his animal.... Proverbs 12:10 |
he is a very handsome boy! Fiona weighed in at 9.4 lbs at 4 months old! so im with you on the bigger ones!!!!! |
My babies are 3 kg & 10kg, wouldn't have them any other way! |
My Keegan is 12# of pure love. |

He is just beautiful though |
Ladies and Gentlemen... after reading this entire thread I have realized that I own the heaviest PUREBRED yorkie on this entire site. Her name is Sasha and weighs in at 27.3 lbs..... and shes LOST weight in the past few months. The heaviest she has been that i can remember is 32.4 lbs but we put her on a diet to get her under the 30 lb. mark. She is the cutest thing I have ever seen and will be 8 years old in May. Shes been over 20 lbs since she was 4 months old. Everywhere we go people comment on how big she is and no one can believe that she is a purebred whose mom weighed 5 pounds and dad weighed 7 lbs. I don't know how to post pics up but I'll have to take some of her anyways cause I don't have any recent ones. |

Looks like Joiee! Looks a lot like my Joiee. She is 7 pounds and would have floppy ears if not trimmed. I usually let them flop but had the groomer trim them this time because they tended to flop back and it exposed her ear canal too much. I love Chewy! |
Yorkie Mutant My sister has a Yorkie who is 14 months old and weights 17 lbs.! He is so cute!! We have two Yorkies Teddy weighs 4.5 lbs and Trevor weighs 8 lbs. :) |
It doesn't matter how big they are . Yorkies are the cutest and lovable dogs in the world!! We love our little Yorkies!! |
Well those have to be a lot better than me calling Sydnee's belly tummy wummie. I mean I even do raspberries on her tummy like she is a baby and I swear I think she giggles. ;) LuLu gets raspberries too!:aimeeyork |

The max weight for AKC standard is 7 pounds. A friend of mine has a "Yorkie" who weighs 15 pounds. Her dog has papers and came from a reputable breeder. According to her vet, her dog is a Silkie. Silkies look a lot like Yorkies, but, check out these websites: Silky Terrier vs Yorkshire Terrier | Small Dogs Paradise Flickr: Discussing Just want to make sure (Silky or Yorkie???) in Silky Terriers - not Yorkies! They are both sooooo cute! |

1 Attachment(s) I think people often forget or do not know the origins of the breed. The Yorkshire Terrier was developed near the township of Yorkshire, England, on the British Islands. Prior to their becoming house pets, they were used as ratters in the coal mines and mills of the area. During this time the average Yorkshire Terrier weighed around 15 pounds, (about twice the body weight of today's Yorkie). Yorkies larger than 7 pounds really isn't unusual being that the larger size is still in the gene pool. My Little Man weighed just under 10 pounds a couple weeks ago at age 2. His Mom is 6 pounds and his Dad just under 4 pounds. :) Below is a pic of him. |
