Up to 22-24 lbs for the original. |
I think I already responded to this post, but I'd have to say my Jack is the best dog I've ever had. He weighs a whopping 16.4 lbs. I treat him like he's my baby too. He's spoiled rotten and has his mommy wrapped around his little paw!:animal36 |
My princess is 9 months old and wieghs 9.6 pounds. I was so suprised when they said she wieghed that much I had them re-wiegh her. And she is so long my hubby says he thinks she is part duschound. But we have the paper work and she looks like her dad. The breeder had both mom and dad. But I was also told she would only get up to 6 pounds at the most. And she isnt done growing. But I am glad she is bigger the vet said she is healthy and not over wieght, and siad she most likely wont have any medical problems being so big. The vet also said she is a real yorkie. Just thought I would share, I got a big yorkie too. Just wondering how much bigger she may get. :D |

Accually, Nobody can really tell you how big the pup will get. Just because parents are small, or pup is small at birth dont accually mean that the puppy will be small at full size. Genetics work in weird ways. lol |
We have a client who brought their yorkie in for grooming. He's definitely Yorkie, and definitely 35 pounds.....talk about huge! lol He was a complete doll though! Just more yorkie baby to love! |
Wow, 35 lbs? Thats the size of a cokker spaniel or a whippet. Crazy yorkie! |
Man, I want to see a picture of that big boy! People can't believe my 16 pounder is a yorkie! |
You could be describing my Yorkie! He weighed over 8 lbs about a month ago - and is only 6 months old! |

haha Yup! He was fat to begin with, but even if he had been a decent weight he STILL would have been a gaint! |
I wanted to read all the post before I posted and I thot I was going to post about the biggest Yorkie. LOL I met a man looking for a playmate for his Yorkie who weighs 25 lbs. My biggest dogs are only 11 lbs. I'm not sure they would be big enough to be a proper companion for one that size. I have to say that I joined Yorkie Talk in 2005 too and this forum seems to have changed an awful lot since my Pirogue started getting big. I was chewed out for his size and he was about 8 lbs at that time. In the last year or so I have been chewed out for breeding a male who throws tinies. I have sizes from 11 lbs down to 2 little males that the puppy weight chart is predicting to be 2 1/2 lbs when they are fully grown. This mean they may be close to 3 lbs when they are fully grown. I have been keeping track of the weights of my puppies to see how accurate the chart is when compared to my lines. It is pretty accurate. When Pirogue started getting too big to breed to my females, I started looking for a female more his size. It took me 2 years to find one his size. Now I breed big Yorkies for families with small children that want a Yorkie but don't want to worry about their children hurting a small one. My smaller studs are 4 lbs and 4.4 lbs and produce tinies to 8 lbs depending on the mother and genetics. I have the 2 tiny boys from the 4.4 male and a 6 lb mother. I love to hold Pirogue but it takes 3 of the tinies to equal his size in my arms. LOL It is much easier to hold one Pirogue vs 3 - 3 lb dogs. Love is love and it comes in all sizes and colors. I love my big boy when he and my poodle fight Travis will stand on top of him with all four legs on the floor! It's so funny I'm gonna have to take a picture for you guys.:) |
Our 11 1/2 mo old Yorkie is 11 lbs 2 oz. In the Denveryorkie.com group there is one that's 22 lbs. so your's is no where near the biggest Yorkie out there. I'm sure you were kidding but no Yorkie is a Mutant.... there's just more of him to love. John |
large Yorkies Yorkies originally were 15lbs as average but in recent years breeders are trying to breed them smaller because that's whats in demand. |
Hiya! Welcome to Yorkie Talk! I am down by Ozark. I have a mess of Yorkies. Have you done an introduction to tell us all about your Yorkie and yourself? (Notice I put your Yorkie first? LOL) Sylvia |
Hey I totally agree because how are 7 pound yorkies able to kill RATS in a factory if RATS are a size of a cat i read it on wilkipedia they should change the size limit and usually the teacup yorkies are the runts out of them all the premature ones. thanx for ur advice my male yorkie is 18.5 pounds and i love every inch of him.:) |
He sure is a handsome boy!!:) |
More of him to love. :D |
large Yorkies I have a yorkie form a breeder in missouri (ozark area). He and my vet both told me why my yorkie is already 7 lbs at 4 months old. It because the original breed was larger and due to the demand they are being bred smaller. My baby's name is Amos and I wouldn't trade him for a million smaller ones. He's a good puppy and I got him form a real great breeder (Grassy Farmes in West Plains Missouri). I also ask by people if Amos was a true Yorkie because he is so big. And he sure is a real true loveable yorkie baby! :) |

awww that is great so many people try to argue with me saying he is a full yorkie that it is impossiable that he is that many pounds i said well he looks and acts like one he is just bigger but it makes perfect sense what u r saying i wonder how big my girl yorkie is going to be she looks like she will be small but if she isnt that is also fine i love them anyway :) |

( Im sorry they say he isn't a yorkie he must be mixed ) and it gets me soo mad but i refuse to argue cuz it would just be going back and fourth. |
My Bob is 22 pounds. We just went to the vet this past Saturday. And he is a yorkie... |

Yeah, the demand now days is the small ones. I love my throwback, to us he is priceless. |
Wow.... chewy is such a beautiful boy!!! :) really he is absolutely adorable! As for his size... he definately could get bigger. My boys both had growth spurts at 15 months old. My fletcher went from 6.2lbs to 9lbs and my Dex went from 4.6lbs to 5.5lbs. They were well over a year old when that happened. Although he is large for a yorkie, there are definately other members here with even larger yorkies. I believe Archie's buddy is 16lbs also. |
I was sure I already posted but...?? Guess I need more practice. My first Yorkie never got over 5 lbs; my new little guy was 10 lbs awhile back - and he just turned 10 months. Gus also has a longer body and nose - and is twice as feisty as Gabe ever was! He came from a breeder in Missouri - I think I read where others bought theirs there. Maybe they just 'grow' them bigger in MO! LOL I'll be back if I don't get lost again! :) Gloria |

Big size yorkie can be yorkies, but it is called poor breeding. Because back yard breeders just don't know what they do, this is why. Good breeder will never breed yorkie out of standard (they even try don't breed dogs who are 7 pounds, usually 4-6 pounds), and if you buy from a REAL reputable breeder, you would never had such surprise. Personally, I saw yorkies up to appx. 20 pounds, but you can easily say that they are mixes, although they all have AKC documents (please read the topic "the true about pet trade industry", and post about AKC' connection with puppy mills). Anyway, for those who concern about purebreed, you can make DNA test. |
