Chewey is adorable. I really don't care about big or small, just that the little one is healthy and Chewy looks very healthy to me. You go boy!!, lol. He is really cute, more yorkie to cuddle with. |
I love the rebellious attitude with regard to defying the breed standard!! LOL. That's so funny!! That's right...you go boy!! I just love those eyes he has and his ears are so cute too! You are very lucky indeed. The fact that he is not within the "breed standard" does not mean he is not a yorkie...a widely held misconception! |
Jacque the Giant Yorkie I wish there was a contest for the biggest yorkie! I'm pretty sure my family's dog would win it. He will be two in may and is 27 inches long (from nose to nub) and is 16 inches from the middle of his back to the floor! Last time we weighed him (about six months ago) he was 21 lbs. I must say I do love his size! We get all the perks of owning a yorkie without having to worry about stepping on him or having to help him on and off beds! Here are some pictures of him over the past two years! Here are pictures of the first day we got him (6 weeks) http://i25.tinypic.com/302z20w.jpg http://i28.tinypic.com/2yl61ar.jpg Here are two pictures of him at the pumpkin patch with my mom (6 months) http://i31.tinypic.com/2reif05.jpg http://i30.tinypic.com/2mph5xy.jpg And here he was at a year! http://i26.tinypic.com/35n372s.jpg |
He might be big, but he is all yorkie. I think he is beautiful! Small is nice, but not everything! I have 3 yorkies and all three are different in size.:D |
I just love the third picture of him, anne |
OMG...how precious! Love the pics! My Sugar is 12 pounds and I always have people tell me that she's not a real yorkie because she's too big. Like it's any of their business. We love her just the way she is. I also love that we don't have to be quite so careful with the larger ones. Sugar's still smaller than my cat so to me that's a little dog. I love all yorkies, no matter the size. I noticed you're in Fishers, is that Fishers, Indiana? Just wondering, I'm in Noblesville. |
He is a cutie pie . I also have larger Yorkies .Peanut is 14lbs at 2years. Thumper is 18lbs at 2 years. They are the best. Just more to love. |
He is a cutie!!! My first Yorkie was 16 lbs and floppy eared. |
I have seen several ppl on here w/ larger Yorkies and I have seen them called Tea Pots on here... Just because a Yorkie is big doesn't mean that he is not pure bred... As w/ most small breeds Yorkies were bred from a genetic pool that had large size back there, so not all will be the 7 pounds or under that the standard calls for... In the book by Joan Gordon and Janet Bennett, "The Complete Yorkshire Terrier" it talks about Yorkies being judged in different classes; over 9lbs, under 9lbs, and under 5lbs in England... It is also interesting that the first AKC registered Yorkies were described as sky blue and tan and later 1 was registered as blue and white... in the AKC they were classed as under 5lbs and over 5... It also talks about the breed points (standard) used for judging in 1878 which describes them as having a range of colors from a clear silvery hue of a deep sky blue to a black blue, getting lighter w/ age and the top dogs are listed as 10lbs and 4 3/4lbs... Eventually they described the color as a bright steel blue and the size to be in 2 classes; under 5lbs and over 5, but not to exceed 12... then they changed it to the dark steel blue and not to exceed 7lbs and got rid of the 2 classes... bringing us to today where Yorkies are still born as in the old days of different sizes and different colors, but still this breed that we love so much... |
1 Attachment(s) I have a big guy, too. Last time we weighed him, he was 22lbs. Here is my big boy, Harley: Attachment 212668 Tammy |
1 Attachment(s) Chewy is just delicious. I too have a larger Yorkie. She is one and a half and probably 15 lbs. now. Her neck also seems long to me, and she does the reverse sneezing a lot, especially after drinking water. But when she was about five months old, she had a piece of corn cob stuck in her throat and stomach. $2,500 later, she will always have a sensitive throat. Corncob you ask? Well we were told they like to chew on them, and we thought since she was a puppy, she would just gnaw on it. Well, about a minute later I looked down to check on her and it was gone. She swallowed one big piece hole and one smaller piece. That was a very hard learned lesson. But, like Chewy, she is very active, which I really enjoy. She plays catch, swims, wrestles, and runs, runs, runs. She's very smart and affectionate. People usually ask me if she's a Silky or "Aren't Yorkies supposed to be smaller?" So the 7 to 8 lb. Yorkie I was told I was getting is now about 15 lbs. and I think she's still growing. But like you, I love her just the way she is. |

Chewy, Harley, Lexie, Peanut, Thumper, etc they are ALL such cuties!!! I say THE BIGGER THE BETTER:thumbup: My Samson has been growing about a pound of month and at almost 8 months he is almost 8 pounds. I wouldn't want him any other way, shape or form. He and my husband love playing together and having a bigger dog (yet with the cuteness, hair, coloring of a Yorkie) to play with my 6 ft 4 husband is perfect for us. |
Amazing, very good looking yorkie. There is just more of goodies that Yorkies have!!! |
I love your Big Beautiful yorkies! Another plus for the bigger size, I would think, is that children can play with them without the risk of injury. Hey, and as much as we grown up love our doggies - children love them more! |

Chewy is beautiful!! He looks like a cuddler too :) |
I love them too! My Phantom is 9 pounds at almost 6 months old, and he's still growing! I love his size! The funny thing is, I kept him from my first litter of pups from Shadow (a 7 lb male) and Gellica (an 8 lb female). His sister Brandi (from the same litter) is 6 lbs. and I think she's done growing. Pnatom loves to play "rough", which is great, because you really can't rough play with a 4 lb. yorkie, like my Li'l Sapphire. I have an album for each of them (the link is in my signature) if you want to see pictures of my crew. Your little guy is just adorable! |
And here I was thinking that I was unique, my Chewy is 12 lbs, blond and quite the guy, we call him Chewy the king.. lol.. i'd love to post a picture but for some reason I have not mastered that part of the posts yet, but once I figure it out, I will, in the meantime he can be seen on my profile. Love your Chewy, they are great dogs. |
I love seeing all of these pics of everyone's babies. They are all so adorable. Thanks for sharing their stories and their pictures. |
1 Attachment(s) Your Chewy is adorable. Look how chunky and cuddly he is. Don't you just love the size. He does have lot's of company here on YT. There are quite alot of "TEAPOTS" on this site. All adorable. Buddy loves new Teapot friends. He's my Mutant: All 15lbs of him |
I love the big boys! (and girls!) Tucker was part of a litter of 5. Of the 4 people who've kept in touch with his breeder he is the biggest at 13 pounds. His two brothers are around 7 pounds and his sister is only 4 lbs! How weird is that for one litter? I still think of Tucker as a small dog....him's just sturdy! |
My new one also Quote:
Do you have pics of yours? Sounds like the coloring is like mine will be. Would love to see her! Pat |
1 Attachment(s) Here's our teapot, Sassy - my daughter's dog. I'm not sure how much she weighs, but she's no shrinking violet when it comes to full-figured Yorkie girls. She has a lovely temperament and is feisty. |
thats what people tell me all the time.. oh i think you dont have areal yorkie, cause he is much bigger etc.. like i care .. I love him soooo much and he is sooooo sweet and i think handsome too :) Quote:

Here are some pics of him :) |
Oh it's nice to see all the teapot's unite!! hahaha! You're mutant is SO utterly cute! The positives of bigger yorkies include their hardiness! Thor is 13lb! |
I ADORE BIG YORKIES! I'm so glad there are so many people who feel the same way. I don't think I'll ever own a Yorkie that's to standard unless it's like 7 lbs. ;) Franklin was 7.5lbs last time we weighed him but I'll bet he's closer to 8 now. He'll be 7 months next week. I absolutely adore his size. We're also adopting a 4 year old in to weeks that is closer to 9-10lbs. I love my teapots and wouldn't have it any other way. |
1 Attachment(s) HERE'S TO THE TEAPOTS!!!! My Tootie Man is 16 lbs of pure joy! He is so fun and such a beautiful snuggle partner! MY DH loves to play rough and Tootie is the perfect size..... I am lucky enough to have the best of both worlds, my baby girl is 5.5 lbs.... LOVE my Tootie Man!! |
