| ![]() The AKC papers on my 18.9 lb "Yorkie" are from an Amish breeder somewhere out in Lancaster PA area. I'm his third owner in 2.5 years--it's keeping up with the energy that had his last owner give him up. Appreciate your comment on this: a HANDFULL is what we have here. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() My Prada is a cotton coat yorkie, AKC, and weights about 14 pounds, she is NOT a standard size or coat, but some of her sibblings are, and her parents too.. is ALL about GENETICS.. my girl is the exception to the rule..LOL remember yorkies used to be bigger dogs until the humans decided to shrink them. hugs, |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | ![]() They are all so cute ! Yorkie standard are so unreasonable when it comes to our Yorkies. Unless you plan on showing your Yorkie, dont worry about how big they are. What people dont understand is that they come from a line of larger breed dogs that can show up in a blood line at any time. History Of Yorkies | Yorkies History I have four Yorkies all are well over standard weight and Brandi is my largest at 20+ lbs.

| ![]() Dawn, agreed, it's the dog and the personality you fall in love with and some Yorkies have big genes some wee genes. |

| ![]() Our "purebred" Yorkie, Graysee, is currently approximately 11.4 pounds. Although she is not the AKC-recognized standard, she still has her papers and bloodline as 100% Yorkie. I have always suspected that somewhere up the line there might have been a Silky in the mix! Doesn't matter, I wouldn't trade her for anything! |

Remember it was less than 100 years ago when the "Yorkie" was quite often coming in at closer to 20# than under 10...they were already extremely bred down in size to be under 7#. Thus I personally have serious issues in those breeding them down under the current low standard size range.

| ![]() Hi..I have a mutant yorkie who is around 15lbs. and he mated with our little 8lb. mini pin. It certainly was not our plan. Now I am wondering what size pups she is most likely to have. Do you know if my mutant will have the throwback genes or could it be possible they will be the little yorkies as his mother/father and sister and brother were? Just wondering if any mutant owners have bred their big babies. |

You'll have min pin yorkie mixes. My male was bred and produced in standard pups, however out of standard dogs are obviously by definition not breeding quality. My male came from a line of undersized yorkies actually. Goodluck finding homes for those pups please spay neuter.
