| I understand how you feel. When I got Ginger I was able to take her to work with me everyday. Then, when I decided to return to school, I had 3 mos. off to just stay home with her. It was really tough leaving for school the first week or two, and the program I'm in I'm gone 8 hours. But, I found a woman in my neighborhood who dog-sits, and paid her $10/day to come in and get my animals out to play and run in the yard for an hour. She was great, and even let me call her each day on my cell to see how things went. After awhile I cut that back to just a couple of days each week. It really eased my mind, and truly, I believe the change was MUCH HARDER on me than on her! So, you may want to consider a doggie daycare or pet sitter visiting. It might make you feel better! Good luck!

| Thanks everyone for your thoughts and suggestions! It's much appreciated and a comfort to know that my Bella will not be the only dog that's "left" alone for hours a day... I did look into doggie day care and unfortunately, there isn't any around here. I'm hoping that she'll start sleeping w/Peanut the cat, sleep the day away, and be ready for some rambuctious play w/us when we get home. I definitely won't look at the window as I'm driving away tomorrow! I've made that mistake before and seeing her sad little face at the window pawing at the glass is heartbreaking. I don't want to leave this post w/a sad face. LOL. Here's to me and my new job tomorrow and a well-behaved/content Bella tomorrow as well. |
