Are you a registry snob?

After reading this post and the many replies, I have to say that I am really impressed you all. You all seem to look past the paper and see the truly amazing dogs and the rewards of owning them. I am a breeder of CKC Yorkies and I can't tell you how many people will pass on a beautiful, healthy dog due to papers. My dogs are in the house with me all day long. They go to the vet on a regular basis, they are bathed and groomed regularly. And not only do I offer a health guarantee I also offer to buy back my dog in the future should the owner no longer be able to take care of it. I stay in contact with the new owners and find it rewarding when they send me pictures and updates on the dogs. I have made many friends this way. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I am so glad that so many dogs have great owners like everyone here on Yorkie Talk. It shows that you take the time to learn, talk and inquire more for your furry friend. After all, isn't that what YT is all about?

I think I may be a snob myself. I have two Yorkies (though I don't know if my little guy is going to survive around here) my female is AKC and my male is CKC. I also have three other dogs, two are AKC and one CKC and I'm leaving Sunday to pick up an AKC female Mastiff...
I have such a problem with those darn CKC papers! I don't know why!! My two Yorkies even came from the same breeder, both are beautiful...and yet knowing Simon is CKC registered is driving me nuts. I know it doesn't make sense at all. I know papers mean nothing unless you plan to breed or show and bad breeders are out there no matter what registy they happen to use.
OK now after reading this before posting, I know I am a snob and it's wrong.

Please, don't take all this the wrong way LOL I don't make a difference in the way I treat any of my dogs (ok I do admit that Jersey (Yorkie) and Tank (Mastiff) are my favorites) but everyone gets the same amount of attention and love.

Ginger is AKC and I am very proud of her, so I can see how this would be important to you. I’m not familiar with the other affiliation that you mentioned, but it’s still a credible registry, right? So maybe you are not a snob, you just like to have things just so. Maybe the fact that one is different than the rest is what’s really bugging you, not necessarily the credibility behind it?
