This is horrifying to me, I'm sorry, but it really is. If your dog was not potty trained, it was because you didn't potty train him.

I'm not a crazy lady who believes you shouldn't go anywhere without your animal...I realize there have to be rules and that following the rules is important.

BUT, when you buy a dog, you make a promise. You are saying to that animal: "I love you, you are mine, I will protect you and keep you for always and ever no matter what because your spirit and well being are in my hands." - That is the promise you make when you bring an animal into your home. You can't just get rid of an animal...dogs aren't disposalble, you can't throw them away when they no longer "fit your lifestyle".

When you get an animal, make sure you're ready, because it is for life.

I guess what made me post was the fact that you stated your sis in law had just finished cleaning the carpets by hand and when it happened your husband thought it was funny. You also stated he wanted it to happen to teach her a lesson...I guess that just struck a chord in me. Your sis in law doing so much work to make the carpets look nice and your husband thinking it was funny and glad that it happened.

I did'nt dispose of him , I had him almost 2 years and I did'nt work and my hubby worked from home, we tryed EVERYTHING and for your info my vet says and a few breeders I have talked to of yorkies that sometimes Yorkies will NEVER fully house train! That they are just that way sometimes, not always true as with the yorkie I have now she has never pottied in my home. But it does happen. Maybe you did'nt read that to me dogs are dogs and CHILDREN and humans come FIRST! My dear daughter was going to be crawling on that floor and I would rather her not crawl in nasty dog poo and pee, thank goodness before she was born we recarpted the entire home, and also moved to a diffrent one. But I think some people take the dog thing to far treating them as humans, I care for my pup the same as anyone else but I don't tote her along to stores or peoples homes and expect to be allowed as if I had a child with me. If her sister asked her to come then she should'nt be mad and she should have thought an accident could possible happen, thats great I was stating that I NEVER allow other dogs in my home thats me not you. And the comment made that her newphew got sick on the heu after it had been put in and she did'nt ban him from the home, is just horrible I would'nt abn a CHILD either but if I allowed someones dog in my home and it pottied that would be the last time. Thats me not you, everyone is entitlied to there opinion and that is MINE!

My LiL Moe is deffinately a problem trainer, but I also know there is some reason why he is, and as I love him and wouldn't just throw him aside like some failed husband, I choose to live with his mess and mistakes until we as a team figure out what works for him.You don't Make a pet do anything, they do things for you because they want to please you, and if they mess up, we have to figure out why and work with it.My mother used to get us a puppy for christmas, it would get bigger, not act how she thought it should..and suddenly the puppy magically "ran away from home." Then another some time later, same story...he "ran away from home" ...the way you treat your animals will have a direct bearing on how your little girls feel about animals, and close bonds with beings other than mom and dad. I may have just been small, but I shall never forget the heartbreak of losing my puppy to the "magical ran away syndrome" If you want a clean house, don't have pets or children, as children are messy too...and it's a natural thing for them to be, and children break things, and make accidents too....some people dont allow children in thier home, I find that appalling as well. The bottom line is everyone has a different oppinion, were all entitled to it, and that is how the world works , different strokes for different folks.
I don't know why this is such a great debat, some people like it some people don't. 11 pets to me seems crazy but hey thats you not me. I don't just buy and get rid of dogs that was one time, and me and my hubby felt it was best. As for the whole child thing yes kids make messes and from time to time break things but they are KIDS, I have never loved an animal, and I have had them all my life, as I love my children, not even close. However that said because i do keep a clean house my daughter tends to be clean as well, she puts her toys back and has never colored on anything but paper, and never messes with her food. But we do occassionaly get finger paints out and we get all yucky and we go out and play in the sprinklers and mud. Just because someone does'nt liek a dirty house does'nt mean they don't get dirty from time to time, you clean it up. I just would'nt keep an animal that did'nt learn the potty training thing within a few months, but I don't have to worry cuz both mine are trained so no biggy! As for some people not wanting kids in there home I would respect there wishes, I am sure this will tick people off as well but I am having my baby shower this weekend, and I put on the invites adults only children not invited, I DON'T want my friends kids in my home. One of my girlfriends will plop her butt on the couch and let her daughter just wonder around my house and get into things, last time she was here her daughter got into my baby stuff and put destin on my new upcoming daughters new bedding, she has'nt been asked back. Not the kids fault but her lazy moms! Another one of my friends has three young boys and she does'nt disapline them and they hit and push and her eldest (only potty trained) son pees on my toilet and floor when she is here and she knows he does it but does'nt make him clean it up or clean it up herself. To me things like that are not okay. And I don't care if it upsets people that i don't want there puppies or children in my home. My hats are off to the dog owners who don't care I wish I could be more liek that but we just are not and thats not to say I am a bad person to feel this way. And not to say people are bad to not care but liek everyone has said whats good for one person may not be good for another.

that was exactly what I DID mean - which was why i said it was embarrassing! The other lady who posted seemed to get the impression that it was done on purpose - well she doesnt poo on demand - if she did it would make life so much easier!

Brandy seems to be of the opinion that her dogs will never make an accident on her floor due to being trained - what if they are sick, or have diahorrea?

I stated in another post that it was human error as my dog is pad trained - I should have thought to bring one with me - can I make a comparison - if you take a baby out with no nappy what will happen?

I am just happy that I dont cut people out of my life because they arent as tidy as me, or their kids make the odd accident. I keep a clean and tidy home, work 40 hours per week to pay my mortgage, myself, as my husband is in university, I think Ive got something to really be proud of!!

Accidents happen especially if a dog is sick. Chachi is house trained but was sick a couple of months ago and had accidents all over the house. You cant prevent that from happening

I never said accidents don't happen you people are insane. I understood when I got my dogs that there would be accidents and I trained them long and hard to keep that from happening I mean I never let Hannah out of my site for the first 4 mths. And yes they get sick and I am sure Hannah will get sick at some point and poo on the floor or vomit and I will clean it up, my point was I would'nt allow other peoples dogs in my home just in case, its okay in MY house if MY dog has a sick moment but not someone elses dog. Some people are not as dilagent with house training and obedince training as I have been and I don't want there lack there of ruining my home. Thats all!

As for the originally poster I never said you made him poo on purpose I was just replying to a poster after you. Yes it was an accident, yes she invited you to bring the dog so its her fault. I was just saying had it been me I would'nt have had to worry because I don't allow other peoples dog in my home. MY GOD!

That is really sad. A woman at my work did the same. She got a yorkie for her and her family and it kept jumping on her daughters bed with muddy paws so she got rid of it. When I told everyone at work I was thinking of getting a dog she tried to talk me out of it

Good job I didn'r listen though. Smudger has taken quite along time to train and I had to do it by myself, I start work early (5am) so I'm up taking him out for a wee at 4am. It's taken me 7 months to train him coming home to find wees and poos everywhere but I never thought for one second of getting rid of him

I think I would have 11 dogs as well if I had to go through that as a child

I guess what I'm missing is the real story between brother and sister huh? To be honest things have happened to my siblings that I was kind of glad about too!!! The picture is becoming clearer. Thanks for responding!

Brandi -- You just stick to your guns..... You have the right to care for your pets, your family, and your home the way you want to.

I used to be a clean freak - but certainly am less one now - perhaps just because I'm older - and don't have as much energy anymore.

My pups have accidents in my house (and I don't like it) - My youngest puppy is becoming better potty trained by leaps and bounds - so this is good!

Anyway - I think dogs are dogs too. They are not people, and I cringe everytime I hear them referred to as little "babies," or as "one of my children," etc. I think this is highly neurotic -- sorry about that!

I love my pets to pieces - I really do. I spoil them, and I dote over them. And, because I am single and live alone, there is no doubt that they are among the most important things in the world to me. I lost one last October, and I had a very hard time, even being able to go back to work. As well, I will love and miss that little dog every day the rest of my life. Thinking about her and remembering her still brings tears to my eyes every day.

But - I never refer to my pets as people, "babies," or "children." They aren't people. They are dogs and I think that having a dog for a pet and as part of the family is one of the most wonderful things in the world.

****Changing the subject - My pup wears a belly band whenever we go visiting. I certainly never want one of my pets to do any damage at anyone else's house. And, if a person doesn't want dogs visiting their home, I respect that.

**** Just for fun - one of the cleanest women in our neighborhood (a clean freak) is totally animal crazy. She just loves dogs and cats and horses and everything. But, she doesn't like children. Figure that one out!!!!!
