Brandi -- You just stick to your guns..... You have the right to care for your pets, your family, and your home the way you want to.
I used to be a clean freak - but certainly am less one now - perhaps just because I'm older - and don't have as much energy anymore.
My pups have accidents in my house (and I don't like it) - My youngest puppy is becoming better potty trained by leaps and bounds - so this is good!
Anyway - I think dogs are dogs too. They are not people, and I cringe everytime I hear them referred to as little "babies," or as "one of my children," etc. I think this is highly neurotic -- sorry about that!
I love my pets to pieces - I really do. I spoil them, and I dote over them. And, because I am single and live alone, there is no doubt that they are among the most important things in the world to me. I lost one last October, and I had a very hard time, even being able to go back to work. As well, I will love and miss that little dog every day the rest of my life. Thinking about her and remembering her still brings tears to my eyes every day.
But - I never refer to my pets as people, "babies," or "children." They aren't people. They are dogs and I think that having a dog for a pet and as part of the family is one of the most wonderful things in the world.
****Changing the subject - My pup wears a belly band whenever we go visiting. I certainly never want one of my pets to do any damage at anyone else's house. And, if a person doesn't want dogs visiting their home, I respect that.
**** Just for fun - one of the cleanest women in our neighborhood (a clean freak) is totally animal crazy. She just loves dogs and cats and horses and everything. But, she doesn't like children. Figure that one out!!!!!
