This is a little trick I tell my new puppy families, hang a bell (like a large jingle bell) from a string on your back door knob. Everytime you take the pup out make him hit the bell with his paw before you take him out, and before you know it you will hear the bell tinkling and see him standing there waiting to go. Go nuts with the praise. Try it. Good luck.

When I scold Chloe, she barks at back at me. Like a teenager backtalking their parents. I can only scold her if I see her squatting. Because other than that, she won't know why I am fussing her for. Then, she gives me these sweet yorkie kisses to butter me up. And I never can stay mad at her for long. She is too darn cute. My mom has more time to work with her than me. Because she does not work and can walk her frequently. I can't because I have been working lately 6 days a week/8-hour shifts. And don't have much time to spend with her. My parents will be coming home from vacation in another week and half. Until then, it is just me and Chloe. And I got to work from 12-9 today. So, I have no choice but to confine her to the laundry room all day. I live too far from work to even drive home on my lunch break to check on her. And I don't trust any of my neighbors to come keep an eye on her. I am too paranoid that she will get loose or something will happen.

Good luck mine was is the three foot tall one also. And it doesn.t slow her down one bit...

Hey at least it's not been 7 months!! Smudger has only just been fully house trained this week

When I was using a playpen for my older dog and she was getting out, I took a railing--the kind they sell for children's beds and used plastic ties to tie it onto the playpen. The other end was up against the wall. It fixed that problem. She was no longer able to jump it. Where there is a will--there is a way!! Don't give up!!

I think it takes a long time for a dog to be trained to let YOU know when he has to go out. Our older dog is on a schedule basically. He goes out first thing in A.M. , lunch time, after dinner then one last time before bed. If anytime in between that he needs to go out he will sit at the door and whine. To me this is being fully trained. He has communicated to us he needs to go out, not us taking him out on schedule. That took a long time to accomplish however, probably 1 1/2 years. Any dog can be trained to pee when you tell them to and when you set a schedule for them. I guess true training is when they communicate to you they have to go out. Sounds like you dog needs more direction in her potty duties. Instead of putting her in the laundry room and shutting the door then expecting her to know what to do you need to get involved. Put her on the potty pad..tell her to "go potty" or whatever command for potty you have. She will try to get off the pad probably. Put her back on and don't let her off until she goes. Do this over and over and soon enough she will understand what it is you want her to do on the pad. Make sure to give little treats when she does go on the pad. Good Luck!

My little pup decided that he "didn't want to be potty trained ....wanted nothing to do with it." He rips up his potty pads and plays with them. I've quit using them.

He is about 9 months old now and pees a lot less frequently than he did when he was a pup. He often doesn't pee when I'm at work (6 to 7 hours). He sleeps all night without peeing. And - he pees his heart out whenever we go outside.

So - I am taking him out every two hours or so (thank God for summer!) - and we have very few accidents in the house....almost none. But - if I didn't take him outside - he'd pee anywhere.

So - I'm the one who is potty trained - not him. But it works!!!!

And - I still use belly bands - at night - etc., if we go visiting (don't want him peeing on someone elses carpet), etc. And - his belly band is almost always dry. I really only use them for "just in case."

So - just getting older is a big help with these pups as far as potty training goes.
