| fact of the matter is the dog what ever breed tried to attack your dog and if the owners didnt know there dog would do that they do now and should put a muzzle on it! and i dont blame you for how you reacted you were scared and these people if given half a brain would of seen that and should of said sorry. my sisters mastiff is as silly as anything but if she did go to attack another dog my sister would of said sorry and been very upset her self worrying what might of happened and wouldnt chance it happening again.

| I think that you were right to yell at that awful person. They really should take their dog to a petco or something and make him wear a stronger harness and put him on a regular leash with less room to hurt other dogs.

| You guys are sweet. I probably come across too strong and defensive about it but I think Americans are generally much nicer and more polite in terms of other people and their dogs. It's a bit different here... I'm sure most English people on this forum will know what I'm talking about. It's hard sometimes and I get a bit fed up having to constantly watch out - every corner I can't see round is a nightmare for me. I don't want to be rude to people but then they had plenty opportunity to apologise to me but the guy was almost laughing. It probably doesn't seem like it, but I am really nice and I do love all animals and get on well with just about everyone . That's probably not very clear from what I post but I really do x |

| I had a situation similiar to yours. The difference was that I was at home in my front yard with my furbaby and all the sudden this pitbull comes out of no where and starts running and goes straight for him. Luckily, I too had a quick reaction and picked him up in a second so the other dog didn't get a chance to hurt him. The worse thing is that the owner was so irresponsible that he was walking his dog and did not even have a leash on him!! There are leash laws, but the owner could care less. From what I saw from the owner and the dog, I think the dog was used for fighting. The owner didn't care that his dog was wandering around without a leash and didn't care that his dog was going after another dog. What nerve!!! People can be so stupid and irresponsible!!

| Donating YT 7000 Club Member | ooh I hope you don't mind if I share my expierance too... a few years ago I was out walking Rusty, my lab. (I was only like 7-ish at the time) and then this guy comes walking up the street with his pitt bull (off leash) and I heard him say, "get it." next thing I know this dog is charging at me and Rusty. The pitt goes for Rusty and flips him over on his back. The whole time I'm screaming at this guy to get his dog off of Rusty, while he's laughing. If it hadn't been for some nice elderly gentleman who got the other dog off, Rusty probably wouldn't be here with us today. When the police came I begged them not to hurt the other dog, because even then I felt that the owners should be punished, not the dogs. But, they arrested the man, and put the dog to sleep. I swear to God if I ever get my hands on that guy..... I may only be 13, but I can do some serious damage..let's just leave it at that. ![]() anyway, I'm still really glad that your baby is alright. I love pitt bulls and all those big dogs, but they're lethal if they're owned by stupid people...

| I don't even walk my Lola outside for fear of being attacked. There are several people in my neighborhood who do not keep their dogs on leashes. I will not risk Lola's life, so I just won't walk her around here. It stinks considering there is a leash law here. |

| I guess I'm one of those stupid people because I owned and loved a pit bull. Her name was nikita. She died of cancer and I TOTALLY RESENT STEREOTYPES OF ANY KIND. I think what happened to you was wrong and I"m sorry for this I really am. But just because a few dogs have had bad owners and weren't raised properly DOES NOT mean that all bulls and bull owners are bad. There are bad dogs in all breeds just like there are bad owners.

| You are not being ridiculous. I take Gus everywhere with me and I worry about big dogs of all kinds around my him. He survived a vicious attack last year in our own front yard right in from of us. It does happen so fast. I have Gus in his carrier all the time. He loves it and doesn't mind being in there as long as he's with me. My husband is always telling me to let him down and let him play. But I'm sorry, he is way too tiny and I don't trust any big dog after what happened. We do go for walks all the time but if I see any signs of a dog around I will pick him up without a second thought. I'm so glad your baby is ok. I'm so glad it wasn't me, because I would have slapped that lady. You were in the right and those people should have had a better hold of their beast.

| first of all my post was meant for the original poster that in fact criticized bull breeds and their owners. So my post was to her not the rest of you. I didn't even read what the rest of you said so have no idea WHAT you said. I just wanted her to know that there are a FEW bad bull dogs but the MAJORITY are great dogs. They have a bad name because of irresponsible owners..you don't need to tell me that I"m a big advocate for pit bulls. If someone were to get one research their bloodline and get one that is bred from good lines..those lines are chock full of gentle dogs. Stay away from those that breed and fight their dogs. It goes on still today.
