You are not being ridiculous. I take Gus everywhere with me and I worry about big dogs of all kinds around my him. He survived a vicious attack last year in our own front yard right in from of us. It does happen so fast. I have Gus in his carrier all the time. He loves it and doesn't mind being in there as long as he's with me. My husband is always telling me to let him down and let him play. But I'm sorry, he is way too tiny and I don't trust any big dog after what happened. We do go for walks all the time but if I see any signs of a dog around I will pick him up without a second thought.
I'm so glad your baby is ok. I'm so glad it wasn't me, because I would have slapped that lady. You were in the right and those people should have had a better hold of their beast.
