![]() Yorkieskater, I would bring the baby in bed since he's so agitated and sick. (Just be sure he doesn't jump off.) In time you may want to gradually get him used to the crate, but I'd take this time to bond with him first. ![]()

| ![]() My pup has slept with me (when he feels like it) - since the first night I got him. And, because he was with me, he started out sleeping 6 to 7 hours - pretty much without ever wetting. But, for sure, with the first movement from him in the morning - we went to his pee pad. I put a belly band on him at night - just in case...and it is almost always dry in the morning. He never fell off the bed, but I do know that's a concern. I have a low piece of furniture at the foot of my bed - and before he was three months old, he learned to get on and off the bed using that. Good luck! You'll quickly learn that there are many ways to raise and train a little puppy. Plus all puppies are different - and somethings work best with some puppies. Choose whichever ways work best at your house. Carol Jean |

| ![]() My intention was to keep my new puppy gated off in the kitchen at night, but from the first night I got her she was in my bed. She cried so loudly that I had to stick her in my bed and she's been there ever since. I have gotten the steps so she can climb up and down safely and since she is free fed and uses her pads or at least the tiled floor she is pretty self sufficient. She spends a lot of time sleeping in her little dog house under the computer table but after I go to bed, she comes into my room. Sometimes I don't even realize it until I wake up in the morning and there she is. What ever you want your arrangement to be you have to be consistent for it to work. Good luck. |

| ![]() We have Rowdy (1 year old) and Rex (11 weeks old). Rowdy slept in the crate next to our bed with no crying until my husband decided he wanted him to sleep with us at about 5 months old. He did great - no accidents at all. Then we got Rex (from Rowdy's parents, one year later). Rex went into the crate beside the bed for the first 7 nights - not one bit of crying - I was so proud of him. THEN, I think he figured out that my husband and I, Rowdy, and the senior dog were all in the bed right beside him and so on the 8th night, he cried and cried and cried for 3 hours. I had to make a several hour drive the next morning, so I put him in bed with me so I could get some sleep. I made a "pillow" bed for him. We have a king sized bed and I put him between my husand and my pillows and then put a pillow at about our shoulders (between Rex and the foot of the bed. In essence he was surrounded by the wall at the top and pillows on the other 3 sides. Of course, he could crawl over the pillows, but he didn't because he was so happy to be "with us". He snuggled right down and went to sleep and slept all night. I was so scared that he would pee though, that I didn't sleep as much. But he didn't have an accident!!! The several hour drive was to our country house where we were staying with some other folks and I took Rex and Rowdy. My husband and I sleep on 2 twin beds and since there were others sleeping in the room right next to us - I didn't want to try to crate Rex and have him crying again, so I put him in the bed with me - between me and the wall. Once again, he did GREAT and the rest is history, so to speak He has slept with us ever since. I do put blankets on the floor around the bed, in case he gets up and falls off - which he did once when I got up and went to the bathroom, I think he followed me and didn't know that he would fall off. He was fine though, landing on the blankets - but then our bed is not very tall. He has slept through the night, every night for 3 weeks with no accidents (fingers tightly crossed) ![]() Good luck, I know it is hard, but it will get better!!!

| ![]() Well...things are good. i weighed the pros and cons from everyone including my friends who have other types of dogs. I was SO tired. I put pillows all around the bed and tried to tire him out. I have never met a dog who has too much to do that he doesn't have time to eat and pee. This dog has an iron bladder. We went for a walk and he pooped on the walk but did not do any peeing. 10pm at night and I am trying to get him to "go". Nothing. I put him in bed with me. he was a little hyper with noise but never tried to get up and jump off...never tried to leave me. it wasn't until 8am the next morning that he decided to "go" on his pee pad. We are talking MANY hours since his last "go". I thought puppies were supposed to have go "go" every 20min. As far as eating, he loves treats (like cheerios and liver treats) but doesn't seem to have the time to sit and eat a whole meal. Only "picking" at it. I will get pics up this week. I have to get my skating ones up too. i am SO far behind. He is perfect though...oh...so perfect. suzie |
