| Mouse in the house Ok, it looks like I might have a mouse in the house (although it might just be a cricket) the first since I got my Katy. It is driving her nuts. She can't get to what ever it is. In and out, in and out the doggie door and barking at the wall under the window. She is stand guard to protect us from it. |

| I might be mistaken but I was under the impression that Yorkies were originally bred to hunt rodents? And that their undocked tails made excellent "handles" to grab and pull them out of holes and burrows... |

| If it is a mouse don't worry. They typically do not bite. And when they do it's a very small, non hurtful bite(feels like very small pinch),But I'm not saying to handle this one in particular because it is wild and you don't know what it could or could not be carrying. I wouldn't let your precious pup get to it either as it may have ingested something harmful. I work with small pets, but they are all domesticated. So with that being said be very cautious with your little critter friend. He/she is just very curious. I would set out some yogurt somewhere far from your house where the mouse may find it to distract if from distrubing your home. Mice don't really enjoy cheese all that much and peanut butter is sort of alright but If they're anything like rats they love yogurt.

| Yorkies seem to be great mousers. A few weeks ago, while I was out of town, my Lucy got 3 mice. I had not seen hide nor hair nor poo, so I was shocked when my hubby told me. We also have 3 cats, so I assumed that they would have taken care of any that came into the house. Hubby said he was sure it was her, because he found them under her blanket, ick! I kinda doubt the cats would have hid them there. I hate rodents so I am happy she is so capable. Much better then traps or poison. |
