| worried So I got my 3 mounths yorkie (munchkin) yesterday. and today he hasn't want to eat, and been very sleepy and keeps curling up in anr corner he can. he been whinning alot even when we hold him. he vomit ince. very lil wich leads me to think he did eat something. He has been popping an peeing so that's department seems ok. He did have a very long travel to get to me, as he came from Brazil with my sister, and she missed her flight wich made for a even longer travel time. maybe close to 30 hours travel total from the place seh was and the places she had to drive and the planes and all total. very very long. I know he must still be very tired. he sleeped fine last night and all day today. But Q is should I be worried about him not wanting to eat, and wanting to sleep all the times? He keeps trying to find places to hide, like way way under my desk and stuff. what is going on? Help! Patricia |

| Sounds normal... Well, he might be jet lag from flying and he is in a new home so he is probably adjusting and is nervous. If you give the little guy time he will start eating and playing and becoming comfortable thats what my Yorkie did. When I first got mine she slept and didn't eat right away and she did actually throw up a little bit I think they just need to adjust to the new people and home. Maybe if u sit on the floor and feed him or something like that. Good Luck!! |

| He probably misses his mommy and is frightened from the plane. Maybe you can try to hand feed him?

| You can try giving him some Karo syrup, or Nutrical. usually perks them right up!! I had a puppy just like that, and I had to feed him Tuna fish so he would eat. Eventually I mixed the tuna in witht his puppy food, and little by little took away the tuna, and he was fine. |

| I agree with the Karo syrup and Nutrical. That was a long flight so he could be jet lagged or just stressed out. You should take him to the vet this week for a routine check-up since you just got him and let them know how he has been acting. I am sure he will be good as new in no time

| His sick!!! I took him to the vet and he said that he has ear mites, and looks light his getting dehydrated. they did a fecal test, blood work (results will be here tomorrow) and gave him a shot for the vomiting and diahreah, and gave me pills for it too. and meds for the ear mites but not to worrya bout putting it on right now sense he needs to get better first. they also gave me some special food that is suppost to help him with the vomiting and stuff. I paid $300 for all this stuff and I'm so pissed that the breeder for saying that he was heathy and all . but being over seas it's hard to do anything about it. I love the dog and so does my kids and the last thing I want is for him to die. I'm praying that everything will be ok. the vet gave him some glucose and he didn't seemed to interested in it at all. My husband is gonna kill me when he gets home, cause of the cost of the vet and what we paid for te dog. I just hope our lab doesn't get ear mite either. this is just so sad |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Ear mites are contageous but are more of a cat thing than a dog. Chances are the breeder has cats???? Anyway, you were right to have a vet check him out. Just keep an eye on him. I know when I had a dehydrated pup, I force fed her pedialyte. They get down fast and once they are down, it takes a lot to get them back up. Continue with the nutrical. You don't want the pup to get hypoclycemic. Also, maybe you could boil a chicken and shred the meat and feed that for the extra protein. Best of luck and keep us updated on how it goes.

| Maybe he was healthy when your sister got him, but the stress of leaving his first home and all the traveling made him sick. Once he has some nutrical or corn syrup, make sure he eats some real food right away as these things raise the blood sugar but do not sustain it. They'll give him the energy to be able to eat. Sometimes if their blood sugar is real low they can't even eat. I'm sure once he gets some good food and rest he'll be the playful puppy you've been waiting for. Please let us know. |

| he gave him some med for his blood sugar but didn't tell me to give it to him at home. I'm having a hard time feeding him his pill, I nmade it into a ball with the wet food and he eats all around it and leaves the pill, and his jaws looked like they are locked when I try to open his mouth, and when I did manage to open it he spit the pill out, just like a kid, lol he is walking around and lil more thn yesterday so he must be getting a lil better.
