| My Yorkie is here! I got my yorkie yesterday, and he is just the cutest thing. his 3 months and his name is Munchkin. my girls love hi, and my dog Max (lab) likes him but is ot to sure how to play with him yet. he jumps around and pushes munchkin with his nose but that's about it. munchkin wanted to play with max and tried barking, that was just the cutest thing sense it's such a lil bark, more like a cough. max ran around the house trying to figure out who made that noise, even though munchkin was right in front of him, I guess he could't belive the lil one was barking, well when it happend again, max let out a loud bark and munchking ran as fast as his lil legs would take him to hide, LOL. The only promble we are having is the potty thing. I layed out some newspaper and pee pad in the livingroom corner and he will go anywhere but there. and I need to take him to get trimmed cause everything is getting stuck after he goes. I don't know if I should do it today, cause he came from Brazil, all the way to FL, so he was on 2 long flights and the new home and new kids and an older dog and all, I can see how it can be overwhelming. Do you think it would be ok? How do I leash train him, so we can go on walks? He has a vet apt on monday and that's when I'm planning on getting him microchiped so I hope all goes well. Also sense it's spring break my girls are bucking me to take them to the zoo nd beach, the zoo said they have kennels for dogs to stay in, anybody every did this, is it ok to do that for a young dog like mine, and what about the beach? I know that's alot of Q, just new to the yorkie thing and hope I can get some help. TIA Patricia |

| Congratulations on your new baby. Sounds like he has found a wonderful home. Don't worry about his accidents. He is still very young and it will take awhile. I would not take him to the zoo or the beach to leave him in a kennel. If it is warm enough where you live to go to the beach, it might be too warm for him to be outside much plus you don't want to expose him too much to the outside world right now. I can't help you on the leash training. I have heard to never put a collar on them but to use a harness. I have to say, I have never been able to get either on my two younger ones so I am of no help at all. I have "wild things". |

| Congrats on your little one. You will need to confine him to a small area if you want any hope of getting him potty trained. An ex-pen (www.jbpet.com) is a wonderful thing. I would not suggest taking him to the zoo, ever. The beach is fine, but I would keep him home for a few days to adjust to one new thing at a time. Too much stimulation can be exhausting for little guys. Yes, trim and bathe, impacted feces is bad news. Harnesses are the only thing to use and easy if you are consistent about handling your dog daily. Don't just pet him, rub ears, feet, all over and don't forget to brush teeth. Training/care info is posted on my site www.sylvanyorkies.com Best of luck with your new boy.

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | on your new baby! Be ready to have lots and lots of patients, My Kloey is 10 months old and she is still having trouble with the wee-wee problem, are you home with him durning the day? If you are this is my suggestion, watch him like a hawk!!!!! Don't let him out of your sight, since he is young you need to nip this is the bud and fast! The leash thing will come to him, we put a regular collar on Kloey when she was a pup and it just didnt work, when we went to walk her she didnt want anything to do with it, so I bought her a harness and that worked much better, but what you need to do is put the harness on her and put a light leash, nothing heavy and hook it to him and just let him walk around with the leash on, don't hang onto him, just let him pull it around to get use to the thing on him, then when you get ready to walk him he wont be so prone to freeze up. As far as the potty thing,if your not home with him durning the day, is he in a crate? Kloey is in her crate when I'm at work and as soon as I get him thats the first thing I do is take her potty, and when she goes I praise praise praise her, give her yummy treats, I give her a bite of cheese, peanut butter, or real beef bites that I get from the pet store. good luck! |

| I did get him a harnest sense I hear the collar are bad for their lil necks. I tried the leash thing last night and it was like draging a rug, he just parked his lil behind there and would move , lol the funny thing is, that everything he does is just the cutest thing ever, LOL but I think I'll buy him one anyways just so he looks cute and has a lil jingle on it. I think I'll skip the zoo for now, and if I do go to the beach, I'll leave him home or take him and put in under an umbrella, the South florida heat can get really bad at times. I don't know about keeping him a play pen till house broken, that seems a lil sad, I'll just keep redirecting him to the nespaper when he goes, sense I have tiles it's not that bad. How do they do in lil carring bags? we are thinking of getting one, and how about clothes? they are so cute wearing them, lol Patricia |
