1 Attachment(s) Here's my teapot, Gracie. She varies between 8 and 10 lbs depending on how much of the other 2 dogs' food she manages to steal. Ten lbs sounds large for a yorkie and people always comment on how huge she is but come on! Look at this picture- oh yeah, she's sooo huge! |
to who ever wrote inabout large yorkies Original yorkies came from England and averaged 10 - 15 lbs the Australian silky is large too- the new teacup that is so popular now is just a hybrid of the original large yorkie- I am not saying that this yorkie may not have some mix in it- but it does not matter in fact it may be good for the dogs health - because yorkies have a lot of health issues - so by mixing certain breeds with a yorkie it can help take some of the health risk from the pup. that is what I did Bubba has a 1/4 bision (sp) in him does'nt show but hopefully he will be healthier - he should be between 8- 10 lbs. \\ bas1 O to the person who is having trouble puting pictures up so am I just can't get the hang of it - so do'nt feel bad. :animal36 :animal36 :eyeballpc |
I love this thread. I thought I was going to get a smaller dog. But Chewie is the love of my life, all 15 pounds of him and that was at the vet a couple of months ago. He is rock solid at 11 months. His ears don't stick up and he loves to get dirty, like all little boys I know. From my avatar you can tell he has a summer cut. I live in the high desert and it gets quite warm in the summer. He does have a new growth on his head now and is begining to look like a lion! I may let him grow through the winter and see what happens? His color is beautiful, he has a lot of red on his head and silver in his coat. I love seeing all the big girls and boys. Just wish we all lived close enough together to let them all play!! Wouldn't that be fun? Debbie |
I just love this thread! Lucky weighs in at about 12 lbs but I don't have a digital to upload a pic. So many people tell me that she can't be a purebred because she is too big. Particularly after reading this post and seeing all of the lovely teapots, I beg to differ! |
4 Attachment(s) This is my 11 month old baby boy Shooter all 13 lbs of him. Attachment 72135 Attachment 72136 Attachment 72137 Attachment 72138 |
Shooter is adorable!:animal36 |
What a bunch of cuties!!!! I love them all. We picked Molly because she would be bigger. With a four year old daughter I just thought it was in all of our best interest. Molly is 5 lbs at five months. She is bigger than the yorkie next door who is 5 years old. Thay keep making comments about her size and her fine hair. I just say we like her like that. The vet said she would weigh between 8 and 10 pounds. I Don't care how big she gets. We love her and she is sooo smart. Always go to the pee pad!!!! And I don't have to worry it about her getting crushed. She is a fiesty little bugger and fun for the whole family. Sorry I can't seem to get her picture to upload. Connie K:aimeeyork |
1 Attachment(s) anyone figure out who is the biggest biggie on here yet? Well, my teapot is 15 lbs of love. Here is pic. |
I haven't gone through this whole thread, but I do remember Pebbles weighing in at 20 lbs. I think she may be the largest. Anyone with a yorkie larger than 20 lbs, please stand up!! :animal-pa |

When I got my pup I was looking into having a 'tiny'. Well, he weighed 1 1/2 lbs at the age of 10 weeks. The chart here predicted his grown up weight at about 4 - 4 1/2 lbs... Funny, because at 4 months he's already 3 lbs 9 oz... Pepper gained about 1 lb in each month that I had him! Wow, he might be on the way to be a porker if doesn't slow down soon LOL. :p Well, at least I'm not so afraid around him anymore... And when he fell off the bed the other day (over 3 feet) he just shook off and continued playing on the floor... But I'm telling you, that was quite a thump and my heart stopped for a minute |
My Yorkie babies are big too!!! 3 Attachment(s) When I got our babies I really read books and searched on line everything about the breed. All the books would say that the standard size would be a yorkie at a mature weight of 4-7 lbs. I use to have two Doberman and I am always partial to big breeds but when my husband asked me if I wanted to get yorkies from our friends who are selling them I said aren't they small? I reluctantly went to look at them anyway but I fell in love with them right away and can't go home with just one. So we got two...Cleo & Ceasar. Now that the Yorkie breed is so popular and the smaller your yorkie is the more "IN" you are I always get comments about how big my babies are or they are not the teacups. I hate it whenever people would make comments like that. I feel like they want to make their babies better than my furbabies. I am happy now that there are a lot of us who have BIG ONES and they are as lovable and precious as the tiny ones. Ceasar is 7.6 lbs. and Cleo is 5.3 lbs. as of yesterday. Both are from the same litter and are now two years old. I attached some photos and one of them is a photo of me walking them at the beach. They still looked so small...don't they?/ |
some more photos of my teapots!!! 2 Attachment(s) Here are some more photos of my teapots!!!:) |

25 Lb Yorkie My Monty is really unusual at a whopping 25 Lbs  He is a rescue and we were told he was abused. I can't understand how anyone could abuse an animal, especially a Yorkie. We don't know how he was abused but he is very freightened of a camera. My daughter tried to take pictures but he ran and hid so we haven't tried anymore. He has so much personality and I am doing my best to spoil him absolutely rotten. Anymore really big Yorkies out there? |
[QUOTE=shooter's mom]This is my 11 month old baby boy Shooter all 13 lbs of him. He is adorable.:) I think he looks just like my Sophie. She is 12lbs and has a full coat. I have always wondered what she would look like with short hair. Well now I know and I really like it. Does anyone else think he looks as much like Sophie as I do? |
1 Attachment(s) My Gizmo is 11 pounds.:) |
2 Attachment(s) Sophie's Mom - Yes, Shooter and Sophie can be brother and sister. They are so much alike. I really appreciate this thread. Winston is almost 7lbs and Maggie at 6 months is 6lb. I always get the comments of "oh my, he's big for a Yorkie, is he a purebred?" or "Mines a teacup, I guess yours aren't... but he is cute" or "he's a Silky, isn't he? He is too big to be a Yorkie". Now Maggie is getting the same comments. Both my husband and I try not to let it bother us, but to hear that over and over again wherever we go is giving us a little complex. Do they look huge to you? The first picture is my boy Winston, and the second is my blond baby girl Maggie. |

Thank you. I am hoping that Maggie's hair will grow to be as beautiful as Sophie's. My thoughts exactly. When we were looking for Maggie we didn't want a Tiny either. As for Winston, he kind of picked us. I love them both to death and won't change a thing about them... well maybe if Maggie cooperates with the potty training.. LOL. |

Those two pics above are beautiful. And I was going to say I just love your avatar. That is precious.:D |

Thank you:) . They always make a face when I make them sit together. LOL |
Sibling rivalry... |

Seriously though, your babies are precious. I used to get the same comments about my toy poodle. They would say "she's not a teacup"......my reply duh! there is no such thing......she's a toy! ;) |

3 Attachment(s) A few pics of Kacee. I don't have all of my newest on this 'puter. Just a few. She is now close to 10 lbs. |
My Gabbie is 8 lbs. But we love her to death. I know I hate that when people say is she a true yorkie ? Why is she so big compared to your other ones? Because she can is what I tell them. Well I tried again to post a picture but the file is too big. |
I've never posted a picture before so I don't know how, but my Indy is 14.5 lbs. He has the most beautiful silky coat and is all yorkie! He is a little on the skinny side right now because of his liver shunt surgery, but his appetite is beginning to perk up now. He's not fat at all, just tall and I wouldn't have him any other way! |
Guinness is 11.7 pounds. He is from a 8 lb. mom and a 9lb. dad. I thought too he was large but he is all fur and skin and bones. The vet told me he is fine proportionally. So I guess my fellow does not fit the standards but like I said he is healthy and really for me since I have a german shepherd too a great size! |
