| new owner and new member Just wanted to say hello. I am new to the board as of today. I have placed a deposit on a female yorkie, never owned one before. I still have several weeks to wait for pick-up date(what torture). Any suggestions for a new yorkie owner. I currently own 12 labs(if you count the litter of 4 week old pups). I love them so much, but you just can't put them in your pocket or hold and snuggle them. Well, I guess you could, but it would have to be a very large pocket. Before anyone warns me, my lab babies are kept outside when they are not with pups, so they will not be harming my new baby when she comes home. Open to any suggestions about preparation for the big day. She will be 6 weeks old tomorrow and the litter owner said it is best to wait until they are around 7 weeks or so. She is so tiny and delicate, I am afraid I will break her. My 4 week old lab pups are 3x her size. Patiently waiting for response, impatiently waiting for the new baby. She is currently unnamed, you would think I was pregnant because it is taking so long to pick a name. I want something starting with M because my lab babies are Max, Mia, and Misty. Any suggestions? |

I Love Thor Donating Member | Welcome to YT! I bet you are just so excited, and I can't imagine your wait...Anyways, ya know labs and yorkies do get along, so you don't have to make your other dogs stay outside all the time . There is a thread about labs and yorkies actually. A lot of people have that mix (including me) and it's great!! If you read it you will learn they bot learn to watch-out and get out of the way. As for names... Millie, Mollie, Mika, Misty, Mella...M's are hard...be more specific! Good luck with everything! |

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | Welcome to YT, I to am pretty new to YT and this place is awesome, I feel I'm already an addict When I found Kloey she was already for a new home and I was just so darn excited I made my husband drive 3 hours with me in the smeltering heat (no ac at the time in are car) and I felt so bad cause I knew it would be hard on her to drive that far in the heat and I was right, she only pucked all over me once But thank god we made it home and she was just fine and I think that long drive helped her and I to bond, now she hardly leaves my sight when I'm at home with her and we sleep together! She truly is my little baby girl! Are you going to crate train her? Kloey is in a nice size crate when I'm at work and it has a soft bed and blankey and then a wee wee pad, cause we all no how they hold there bladder for hours and hours Just be ready to give her lots of love! I also have a husky and Malahn and Kloey are very close to one another, I think Malahn thinks she is Kloey's momma. They nap together and play together and go on walks together... So I really think it would be good if you let your Yorkie bond with the lab. ok your going with the M name and mine is Missy, so please dont name her that LOL even though I know it's a sassy name and we all no how sassy yorkies are Get ready to take lots of pictures cause these babies are just to darn cute and they get bigger just so darn fast! Kloey had the biggest ears when she was a pup and I thought she would never grow into them, I told her she was going to fly away with them big ears Keep us posted on your baby! |

| Congratulations on your new yorkie. I know you are anxious to bring her home but 7 weeks is really still too young. They learn a lot from their mothers and littermates at this time. A few more weeks can make for a more confidant and well adjusted dog. These tiny ones do need to eat every so often and you might worry cause they only eat a tiny bit at a time. After dealing with labs, you'll notice quite a difference. Another thing is to only give one shot at a time. I've just joined this group but it looks like if you have questions, you'll get immediate answers here. Vets don't always know everything as they have to deal with many different animals. |

| "M" Names Hello and welcome to Yorkie Talk!! This is a great group and you will soon become addicted like the rest of us. In the way of girls names. I love girls names that start with an "M". My oldest daughter is Mikayla and my youngest daughter is Mercedes (Mercy for short). I also like Maddison (Maddie) Miranda, Macy, Micki, Mya, Mackenzie. Just so food for thought! Again, Welcome to YT!

| Congrats! I get to go pick up my little girl tomorrow after waiting for 6 weeks! She will be 10 1/2 weeks old. The breeder doesn't let them go before that. I am glad because I want her to be eating solid food with no problems and be just a little bigger. I love M names and my suggestion is Molly. I almost named this new puppy Molly, but the family decided on Lilly. Good luck and the wait isn't so bad....if you are on this site everyday

| Hi and Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Obviously I am into M names. Mac & Mellie, by the way one of their best friends is a black Lab named Shadow. He is really cautious around them, which is kinda funny while he is trying to be careful of them and not to stemp on them. Mac is usually tormenting the crap out of him.

Well I am not trying to be mean but why do you keep your labs outside??? I am a big advicate for keeping all animals indoors, but thats just my opinion. I was just wondering because thats alot of dogs.. are you a breeder of labs? Are you looking to become a breeder of yorkies? Just wondering. Anyway 7 weeks is way to young to send home a yorkie puppy, they need to stay with there family till atleast 12 weeks old. Hope all goes well! | |

| Hi and welcome to YT! Sounds like you are going to be really busy with those lab puppies and a new yorkie. About your labs being outside, I also had two labs that prefer the outside to the inside. We could have really cold weather, and when we would try to put them inside they would just cry to go out. It was nothing to see them go jump in the lake when it was around freezing temperatures. About getting your baby at 7 weeks, you will hear all kinds of opinons on this. Some people do just fine when getting one that young and others have problems. I do agree with the one post about the puppies learning alot from there littermates, and there mother. You might want to talk to your breeder, since this is your first yorkie about maybe keeping an extra couple weeks. Some breeders will let them go earlier so that don't have to worry about the shots and all. Remember I said some not all breeders, do this. Anyways, you will love your new baby, and you have come to the right place for information on yorkies. About names that begin with M's??---- You have had alot of good suggestions already. The only ones I can think of are Millie, Minny, Mitzi, Missy,......... Let us know whta you decide. Kim
