Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | How is your puppy holding up and is he feeling better since you posted your original post ? I just re-read this and still can't believe how awful his flight must have been....but what's more scary was his medical symptoms - how is he ? |

| Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers and concerns. I have read the stories of others in this thread and I would like to say sorry for those bad experiences with the airlines and thank you for sharing these. Maybe it happens more than they say and we think. Update: Hes doing better. Still sick but I see improvement. Hes playing more and now cries when he wants out of his crate! We have spoiled him so much, we've barely put him down to walk from being held so much. He has such a sweet personality and loves to lay on us and sleep. He is finally eating his food which is a great sign. I will give a better update on how he is doing in 2 days after our vet recheck. Hopefully the vet will have good news and confirm that he is doing better. |

| I am so glad he arrived safely. Sorry to hear he has congestion. Do you think maybe it was cold in the plane? It's my understanding that Continental, and American have counter to counter delivery with heated and air conditioned compartments for shipping animals. Not sure about other airline procedures. I just had Juice shipped through American and we had a good experience. Seems we were lucky. Hope all is well with your baby.

We went for our recheck and he has no fever now which is good. He is eating better and a bit more active than before. We had a Xray done again to compare to the first and unfortunately we did not see much improvement if any. This really worries me. Vet recommended we change the antibiotic to a different one and administer it as shots. I cant do it, so luckily my husband has been able to with me helping. I mean the Vet asked if we could and I couldnt say no since I know it may be for the best. He showed us how at the office. I just cant believe it has come to this. I really hope this does the trick and the fluid in his lungs clears. This course of treatment is for 5days, I dnt know what could be next and I hope another isnt needed.

| That was a horrible way to get to a new home!!! Hope he gets better though. Does anyone here know what airlines allow you to carry your pets on board with you and what rules apply: how many, size limits, etc. |

| He still is gaggin of course and I feel so bad for him. Our Vet has us giving him lasix for the fluid in the lungs, Naxcel antibiotic injections and robitussin as needed but without the suppressant. Does all these meds sound okay for anyone that might have had a similar case of kennel cough/pneumonia? If anyone here did please reply or PM if something eventually worked for you. I'm open to hear any suggestions and anything that I could bring up to my vet. Doing a search here I read a few pets were prescribed something for inflammation, should I have also and is this for the trachea? With this mess its hard to know who is to blame, breeder and/or airline. I guess you could say both IMO. How is it possible that he was given a health certificate to fly a day before and had no symptoms of illness? How is it that one day after arriving he is diagnosed with pneumonia, is this all possible? I really have my doubts. |

| I was considering having a puppy flown in from California, but after reading these stories I'm pretty sure I'll be driving to get her. Putting the damage aside and focusing on the health of this poor little guy, I know it's not his fault, but the kennel cough could have been contracted on the plane, or he could have spread it to others on the plane. Having dogs penned up with other dogs is probably not a good idea under the best of care. I hope he gets better soon. |

| How's your puppy Liz517? bump... It's been six more days since anyone last posted on this thread. I was just wondering how your little guy is doing Liz517? Has he recovered at least physically? It's been two and a half weeks since you got him home and I sure hope he has recovered by now. This is one of the worst shipping stories I've ever heard about! |

He's eating, drinking, playing, finally taken nutri-stat without having to force him, he licks it right off my finger and enjoys eating milkbones, which he would just sniff before and walk away. He's being a normal puppy and getting into all sorts of things!
