| Vacation Dilemma!! Hi! I am new to this forum and it is GREAT!!! My baby is 6 mos old. I am already worried about what to do about vacations. This year I am taking her with me, but there are going to be times in the future when I can't. My sister has a large dog that is very jealous of Lexie so I do not feel comfortable leaving Lex with her. What options do I have? HELP!!

| I use a bonded pet sitter who comes to my home and stays the night. She has worked out wonderfully for my gang and I know they like her. When I get home they are certainly happy to see me but within minutes they are back to normal as if I had only gone to the mailbox. When I just had 2 dogs and picked them up from the kennel they were pretty wired for the rest of the day. I also know I am not putting them into a situation (kennel or vets) where they could pick up new diseases. You might want to check your yellow pages for pet sitters. Some will just come and check on your baby and some will come and spend the night.

| There are lots of pet friendly hotels. Or you can do like we did and buy a camper.

| You could board her. Some groomers and vets board animals. I dont have anyone who could watch my two when I go on vacation so that is what I would have to do.

| I just got home yesterday, I, very unexpectedly, had to fly out to Palm Springs on Sat. I had Zero Notice and thus no time to find a sitter or even call the vet for an over night stay. I had only hours to book a flight pack and hit the road to the airport! I packed her up and paid the $75 for her to fly with me! All I can say is... Keep your vet records up to date and in a file where you can grab them and go if you ever need to! You never know when you'll have to just run out the door with the dog husband and kids.... Be prepared! Of course, making friends with the neighbors is a good suggestion too! lol I wish I had!

That's exactly what we did! Works great; your babies are with you at all times, and if we do need to leave them for a bit, we leave the tv on for them, just like at home. | |
