| I never ever give coco table scraps. Not only is it horrible for their digestion but it's bad manners for them. I don't like begging dogs. I want to eat my meals in peace. The only human food I give her is once a week, 1 scrambled egg for her shiny coat (vet ok'd it) and cheddar cheese every once in a while, as well as little pieces of fruit (apples and oranges mainly). Otherwise it's only kibble for her, no soft canned food either.

| Val...that is such an adorable pic!! My Teddy gives me those eyes too when we are eating. We try to ignore it but it's hard. Usually after a few minutes, he gives up and curl underneath our legs. From hearing everyone's advice and stories, it sounds like the best thing to do is not give him any people food. Is there any way to train a dog not to give those puppy eyes...LOL |

I would be interested in reading this list if you can find it or if anyone else has it. I do not give Mojo table scraps anymore since his stomache episode a few weeks ago....although, he has had cheddar cheese and carrots, etc. He does good when we are eating and I am the worlds worst at spoiling kids and furbabies, but I learned not to give food off my plate!!

| My furkids Donating Member | I have a friend who only feeds her dog human food (very small shizt-poo) she ended up with a very sick little guy that nearly died. The vet told her that human food is not good to feed dogs. They don't digest it like humans do. I give Sadie chicken with her kibbles (vet said this was fine) but other than that...maybe a LITTLE cheese, apple, carrot or green beans. I do know what you mean about their adorable little faces and those black eyes but...don't look at her!!! lol

| When growing up, I remember almost everyone I knew who had dogs fed human foods and also dog foods. It was in Japan. Since I came to the US, I kinda realized the benefits on giving ONLY dog foods. I mean.. if I think of it, I think giving human food could also influence your displine toward your dog. The fact is that you might give up if the dog looks at you.. or they might become agreesive to get the food from your table.. it will be hard to train the dog if you feed house food.. That is just my opinion. I know for sure that I will give only dog food... and.. cheerio (thanks to Stacy).. instead of treats from pet stores.. I think once awhile is good to give treats... but I have to think if it is really gonna be good for the dog. Treats are everywhere at pet stores.. and it sounds like good stuff for the dogs.. but... is it really! That is the question that owners have to think.. before feeding them... I mean.. I didn't know that you cannot give chocolates to dogs until I came to YT... I don't think I have ever fed chocolates to my dogs before back home.. I am sure a lot of people do that. Feeding dog food seem to be safe to me.

| We give our dogs, (yorkie and corgie) very occassional and very small bits of people food but you have to be careful what because some food is toxic to Yokies even though it would seem healthy(raisins and grapes for example). We got introduced to the Yorkie breed because we Fostered a 3 yr old who was fed primarily human food and was in kidney failure. He needed alot of daily care and my husband is a vet tech. The owner wanted to put him to sleep but he had alot of life left in him so he came to live with us and my hubby was able to give the daily treatments needed. We ahd him for three months. He was a great dog made us fall in loved with the breed. I guess you need to talk to your Vet and do your homework, but I think your hubby is right on this one. Good luck with your new baby!!

| Since you are alpha dog, your Yorkie is not entitled to your food. Pack behavior. You can offer a small piece of whatever you normally use as treats at other times.. You will be totally embarrassed when you have company if your dog starts acting up while y'all are eating.. |

| I was told that as long as it is on occassion, that human food is ok. I give Reyna pretty much anything without salt or seasonings. Although she has munched on a few salty potato chips that have made it to the floor (shes so fast). She gets cheese, ham, bread, chicken, mac n cheese, but SUPER small quantities every now and then. Aside from that, she eats her food like a champ. And is very healthy. Who can say no to those puppy eyes! not me... |

| Hello Smudger doesn't get any human food at all, my mum has always given her yorkie human food and she has very bad teeth. She has actually had 5 teeth fall out and she is only 7 I'm not saying this happens to all yorkies I'm just saying I don't see it as essential for them to have it. He gets enough treats of his own. Oh and also didn't want him begging at my feet like my mums yorkie does
