| I got my first puppy scam email!! Hey all, I got my first puppy scam email. Gee I feel so privledged! I WISH I had the time to "play" with the person's head, but I am so busy with buying a house and going to EMT school, oh yeah and working full time and taking care of Baby that I have no time. Soooo.....if anyone wants to say that I recommended you to this person, go right ahead and play with her mind. Just PLEASE copy the emails on this thread so I can see what's going on. I think they removed the ad already, but I know she'll still respond. Below is the email I got: Hello, sorry for not responding to you as early as required .but the puppy you intend buying was adopted by Mr George Pratt, from michigan a staff of UNICEF . He resently traveled out of the states to West Africa to supervice a joint program with the ministry of education in the place. But he wrote me a mail saying that he wants to give the puppy up for adoption reason's because the residential area i he is allocated to, has a blanket ban on animals(pets included). So if you are really very interested in adopting the puppy contact him directly on his e-mail. Her e-mail is georgewcpratt@yahoo.com Say i directed you to him. | Religious Now, I am not "Miss Religion," (meaning I believe, just not very religious) but I HATE how they throw in that they're Christians and God loving people, and then they are trying to scam us!! If you misrepresent yourself like that I wouldn't be surprised if they'd go straight to H-E-double hockey sticks!

| I know exactly what you mean! Before I bought my baby in Nov. I did a lot of looking on the internet. I wanted to buy a pup I could pick up and not have delievered. I found one in NJ. I am from PA so that is not a long way to travel. The ad was for a teacup female 4 months old. I emailed this person and she said the pup was still available and that she would send me info on how to pay for the pup. As soon as I got done reading that email another one came with all the info and the name of her accountant in which I was suppose to send the money to. I emailed her back and said that I wanted to pick the pup up in person, and if she was uncomfortable with me coming to her home we could meet at the airport that was so close to her. Well days went by and I heard nothing, then one day there was an email telling me the pup had been sold. Then she said about someone living in Nigeria that could not take care of her pups and was willing to let them go just for the price of shipping. I emailed her back and said do you think I am stupid, what kind of scam are you running? Well anyway I tried to email again and quess what? My email was returned. That just goes to show that you have to find a reputable breeder. Even on the internet you can find some great ones. Linda |

| Scary! It's kinda scary to think how many scammers there are out there. I replied to an ad on Oodle.com because this lady said she had two yorkies for FREE to good home. At first I didn't even want to reply because I knew it was a scam, but I did just to see what they would say back. I asked why they were giving them away for free and the reply back (to my JUNK email) was the same stuff you have all written, something about some guy in Nigeria, blah blah. I sure would hate to think what actually happens to people who do not realize they are getting scammed. I am hopefully getting a puppy soon and I may have to send this woman a deposit. I have only spoken to her through email so far but she seems very sweet and all. But is there any way to verify her or something before I send this deposit? Any advise on that? |

| What I would do in that situation is ask the woman for a phone number where you can talk and ask questions before sending a deposit. If she is as nice and sweet as you say she will have no problem speaking with you on the phone. This way you can also see if the area code is the same as the city or state where you are sending the deposit. I wish you the best of luck! Getting a Yorkie is the best thing that ever happened to me and I am sure you will feel the same way too. Please keep me up to date on what happens and if you get the pup. Remember there are SOME good people out there I hope she is one of them.. GOOD LUCK! Linda |
